Completed ‘Gore a Lizard Hurry’ before ‘Like Father Like Son,’ Cannot Progress Quests

As in the title, after a 6+ month hiatus, I somehow completed ‘Gore a Lizard Hurry,’ prior to starting ‘Like Father Like Son.’ Now, as a result, I cannot access ‘Like Father Like Son,’ which is preventing me from proceeding in the GC quests –the only real thing I came back to the game wanting to do. The only quest I have available to me is ‘It Kills With Fire,’ I can’t start ‘Like Father Like Son,’ or the quest immediately following ‘Gore a Lizard Hurry’: ‘Careless Whispers.’

I am simply stuck in what is obviously a bug in quest progression.

I’ve opened a ticket, waited patiently. Opened another (shouldn’t have, but didn’t know what else to do), waited patiently even longer. Called SE customer service, was told to contact GM. Contacted a GM for the nth time and was given a generic response that said to create a ticket (vicious cycle).

I just want to play :-(

Hmm... is it possible that you simply need a rank advancement first? Talk to the person in the middle at the GC counter and choose small talk (or something like that) to do so.

Well, a few notes.
It Kills With Fire is nescessary for advancement, it's not optional, neither is In For Garuda Wakening.
Also certain quests are only accessible after you ranked up, so go ahead and rank up whenever you can. For the first Sergeant rank and the first Officer rank you also need to apply for the rank first, you'll then get a key item, and that item allows you to do the following quest.

It seems I've been grossly misinformed by websites and LS members. Im a 2nd SGT right now, so I need to complete It Kills With Fire and ????, rank up more?

It Kills With Fire is necessary like Skies says. I'm guessing your LS members were confusing it with Ifrit Bleeds, We Can Kill It (Ifrit Hard Mode - the battle that drops Ifrit weapons) when they said you didn't have to do it. You'll see quests appear regularly after if you complete them from here-on-out and if there is no quest available, it means you'll need a rank advancement.'

Edit: also they will sometimes show your next quest but you cannot accept it until you do the previous quest or have the proper rank. It hasn't done it all the time so I'm not sure if it's intended or not but just thought I'd warn ya.

I'm not sure at which point those quests become nescessary, to be sincere, but I do know they are.

HOWEVER comma meaningful pause, you apparently somehow have a weirdly skipped quest issue for some reason, which might mean that your problem is slightly deeper there.

If neither completing It Kills With Fire and ranking up fixes it... It means that by having Gore a Lizard, Hurry the completion flag for it went up... Which the game understands that all the quests prior to it were completed as well. Which is really sadly a thing that will require GM help (if the GMs can even do that).

Just to be sure, check your Unending Journey in the Inn room and see if you have the cutscenes for Like Father, Like Son

Without a doubt, I managed to complete 'Gore a Lizard Hurry,' without completing 'Like Father Like Son.' I only hope after completing 'It Kills With Fire' I can proceed, because if it is going to need a GMs attention, I'm likely to be screwed until post 2.0 based on my experience so far.
