These Forums' platform is really awful

I never saw any other threads about this, and I wonder if I'm the only one terribly annoyed by how these Forums are bad when it comes to user experience.

Among other things, what bothers me the most is the lack of a live 'feed'* of forum activity (e.g. likes, replies) like literally any other social platform out there. Sometimes I really miss out thread replies because It's really hard to keep track of that, with the only way requiring clicking on the slow-loading profile page to then browse back your recent posts and manually go from there to see what happened.

*edit: As a clarification, by that I mean a notification feature

But then, with the lack of meaningful moderation here, I wouldn't be surprised that they are fine with the platform resembling a relic from the 2000's.

Well, there is the new messages. All the forums I've been a part of always used that new message to identify the thread that have new things. I don't get what you want, that's how a forum is expected to be.

I agree with the lack of moderation, though.

Yeah, but on populated threads, sometimes you get a reply that goes unnoticed, unless you keep checking those threads. With a live feed tool, you get notifications (usually on the top right corner) when you have interactions without having to click on a new thread. That is a very useful and basic tool.

I dislike how the ignore list works, but browser add-ons can help alleviate that.

Me too. I wish the ignore list would literally 'erase' someone from my end on the Forums, like not even being able to see threads at all, posts or replies to those posts. But I don't think I ever came across a (gaming) Forum nowadays that makes that possible, which leads me to think that they may perceive those interactions (i.e. you being able to see quotations from an ignored person) as positive engagement to the platform somehow.

Yeah, it's not great. I've been spoiled by other forums where when someone quote-replies you or adds a message to a thread you're subscribed to you get a notification within the web app. For all I know, there could be someone who replied to me in a thread I just never thought to go back to. That's a bit of a bummer.

This happens with me all the time, sometimes posts I forget about and happen to find that I got a reply days or weeks after and a shame that was with a nice discussion going on. Also the quoting tools here are pretty clunky compared to other forum platforms.

Forums would be better if they added a one account per IP address restriction.

A considerable fraction of the posts are react farm posts from throwaway accounts.

It would certainly help, but I fear that troll who goes out of their way to spend actual money on throwaway accounts would have no issue on spending even more money on VPNs or other kind of stuff to mask their IPs.

Bypassing an IP ban is easier to do than breathing these days so banning off IP is useless. Hell, I can literally go into my router rn and have a fresh IP in 5 minutes or less.
