Let me explain PvP in a very simple way

It ain't PvE (player versus environment), it's PvP (player versus player). That means you need to fight other players in PvP.

If you are just attacking the crystals or collecting ceruleum the entire match, you ain't playing PvP, you are playing PvE. That will cause you to lose because BH5 and Soaring 20 are actually important.

Game starts
Nodes appear
Team Red, Blue, Yellow go after their closest nodes.
Few people remain there to capture the node and others go further to scout the area.
Small group of scouts from team Red and Blue meet each other at the midpoint and try to push through each other.
Team yellow splits between two nodes and sits there, waiting until they are eligible to capture.
Nobody from team Yellow goes out further behind the two nodes. They all focus on equally splitting their firepower to guarantee the score points.
Other scouts from team Red and Blue notice the Yellow team's passiveness and successfully sabotages Yellow's attempts to capture the nodes.
Meanwhile both teams Red and Blue capture their base nodes without any resistance.

People from Red and Blue base nodes move towards the middle of map, creating safe zone for respawned players to claim any nodes behind, between their base and the team's front line.

Team yellow gets frustrated that they havent had chances to claim any nodes, and instead of repeating the same tactic as the other teams do, they back up because "boo hoo the bad guys are beating us, damn these premades" they think they need to catch up on the node score, and just double down on the mentality of avoiding conflicts and rather group up to claim node by node. Essentially, repeating the same mistake, getting sabotaged and basically defending in their own base.

end result: remaining people in yellow team that actually try and want to win manage to score whopping 200 points for yellow, while red and blue fight each other for the first place.

pvp and pve in this map goes together. if you're not attacking objectives, you are defending, and in many cases that means giving other team's free node captures.

By the same token, ignoring the objectives of the arena will also cause a loss. For example, if you let the other team get all the big ice, or don’t guard the tomeliths you take (which add to your score as long as they’re in your team’s possession), etc.

That’s one of the things I actually enjoy about pvp in FFXIV, is that it’s not just mindless pvp. Knockouts and battle high are important yes, but the arena objectives still need to be met. The winning teams are usually doing a good balance of both.

1. Stick with the murderball and hit the enemy until they or you are dead and then repeat.

Reduce enemy Hp to 0

In FFXIV, PvP isn't about fighting other players;

It's about fighting the game engine.

The one thing I wish players would realize is how well the newly reworked frontline map lends itself to sandwiching. If a team has to jump down to a big tomelith, they have no escape route if the far team comes in.

BH is more important. You'll probably be fighting over objectives anyways. The difference between the team with the most battle highs and the team that farms around all game long is immense. Yes, the team that farms all game long is going to look like it's winning early on, until they're not. Until the team with the battle highs is clearing objectives faster and slaughtering your team with little effort.

I thought PvP was watching someone pay for multiple subs to fight themselves. /s

I think you would have more success with a post like this on Reddit.
Most people on the forums already know how to PvP or do not care and will never do it. A bunch of noobs are in there now because of the moogle event and there's a very solid chance most of them don't visit the forums.
