Not sure if this is the proper place to post but can we get full Chinese character display support in the global version (I am sure the copy released in China has Chinese support, lolz) as well?
I can type in characters with the Windows IME but not all chinese characters, especially simplified can be displayed. In those case, I get a nice little square.
No particular why to it but Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world.
XIV's original fonts probably don't have the corresponding characters. Maybe try going to the config and switching to a windows font that supports Chinese (and get your friends to do it), and see if the characters show up then?
I don't think the Chinese version was ever completed, I recall them deciding to put it on hold because of the game's major issues at launch.
The game uses symbols from the chosen font to display a TON of pieces of the interface, so it's impossible to run this game without a unicode font in play.
Unfortunately, I've yet to find an alternative to the default that even has enough symbols to run the interface, nevermind an expanded array of alphabet.
Do let me know if you find one, though; I'm a man who hates his serifs... and this... THIS [/waves hand at game screen] ... will simply not do. /fauxpompousness
I believe there is no font that supports both full Mandarin and Japanese as well. If I am not wrong, the issue is typically worked around by using different default fonts for the text.
