Free Login Campaign
I think many long time players will agree the Free Login Campaign is way too generous and it sucks for those who have taken a small break and resubbed just days or even worse hours before. Don't get me wrong I am all for trying to get more players into the game especially those who have not played in a while but don't you think 2 weeks is too much Square? I again resubbed just hours before the campaign went live as I was about to lose my house yet I could have waited and saved some money, you do not even reward long time players anymore like you used to. I do not expect long time sub rewards as I have took breaks on occasion due to funds being low, you could at least announce beforehand before you do the Free Login Campaign but you don't it's just BAM here you go. If you just paid well sucks to be you

I'm in favor of the two-week free login campaign, because the previous campaigns were laughably short and advertised "up to 96 hours" while omitting how you'd need to play for 4 days straight without sleeping in order to get those 96 hours.
But you raise a good point - it's disappointing for players who just resubbed and could have gotten 2 weeks of credit. Announcing it a couple of weeks in advance might cost a SE bit of money, but it would also mitigate the situation you ran into somewhat (even though resubs could still be on the edge, they'd get to play for the two weeks that they'd have to wait otherwise.)
It reminds me a bit of the story of Yoshi-p and the prodigal FFXIV player... Lucky returners get 2 free weeks, free trial gets extended through Stormblood, and what do loyal, long-term subscribers get? Nothing! Even the veteran rewards got nerfed. How is that even fair? ;-)
But it's also how they attract new players and returners into the game, so I can't really complain too much. Game is still fun, and I'll almost certainly play Dawntrail at launch (login queues permitting.)
