I would like to see an Extreme Trial Roulette added to the game. We've come pretty far and have a lot of Trials to choose from now. The main reward should be one or two Universal Totem/s that can be traded for one/two Totem/s of the player's choosing from any of the other Trials.
While there are many players out there that have cleared every extreme trial and a subset of those that could be dropped in any of the dozens extreme trials and remember every mechanic, where to stand, and how to maximize their DPS, I don't think the general player population can manage that. Even those that HAVE cleared all of these.
Think back to some of the PF you've probably been in to farm Ex. People start getting antsy when the party wipes more than once. And that's on current content that people have down to muscle memory because they've run it a dozen times per day. Now open that up to all of the trials out there... the reward better be good. And it could just be that the reward you mention could do it. Maybe make it 5 universal totems. That might be the risk/reward that people are looking for to risk dealing with a few wipes before everyone remembers what to do.
You're correct in surmising that the reward should be more substantial. I was being pessimistic in there being an offering of 1 or 2 Universal Totems. The reward would have to outweigh the difficulty of the synced Extreme Trials due to player skill and memory. With a suggested cap of 5 Totems per day, it would take 20 days of continual daily clears to reach 100 Totems; that's a lot of effort and shared hardship among those participating.
I feel that there is some balance to this idea. On one hand, you have older content that more "up-to-date" players do not want to do anymore (or rather have no incentive to do), and this Roulette would allow older content to be completed by newer players due to Extreme Trial Roulette registers being pulled into a new player's que (or anyone que-ing for a particular Extreme Trial for that matter). However, on the other hand, completing 20 clears in 20 days could potentially finish off somebody's final mount, and therefore discourage continued desire to register. It is this reason I originally sought after 1 or 2 Totems. But you make a good argument in that the actual difficulty and mental stress to accomplish these daily tasks would be a major factor.
Perhaps settle on 3 Universal Totems? That would make an even 99 clears after 33 days, a little more than a whole month's subscription to boot. Covers all the bases.
Mentor Roulette is the closest you'll get to that experience.
