Suggestion: Allow players to control who is in our homes.

One of FFXIV's most unique features is player housing. In-game, player housing is billed as a perk or reward for adventurers for the work they do to maintain peace and order in the city-states. However, players are not allowed to maintain peace and order in their own 'homes'. The property is either door ajar or locked up tight, which doesn't reflect how having a home works anywhere in the world, for anyone in the world. We open our homes to friends and close our doors to people that have no relation to us, as well as people who would bother us. In-game housing should reflect how people actually use homes and property, both in the real world, and in-game.

Suggestion: implement a blacklist or whitelist option for estates and apartments in the game.

• The default is null, with neither blacklist nor whitelist selected, so that those who have no need for the system don't need to interface with it.
• Individuals and free companies may then opt-in to create a whitelist of allowed characters, or a blacklist of disallowed characters. Free company members of a free company house are automatically whitelisted.
• Management of the whitelist or blacklist occurs through the housing menu, and is similar to managing the friend list or blacklist.
• Blacklists/whitelists are tied to the estate/apartment, and not to the owning character, to allow for the management and definition of private and public spaces. Demolition of an estate or vacating an apartment dissolves the blacklist/whitelist.
• Whitelisted characters may enter the estate freely, but may not perform any housing functions like moving furnishings or remodeling.
• In the event of a conflict, the estate owner's list preferences override a tenant's list preferences, e.g., a character whitelisted for a free company chamber cannot enter if that same character is blacklisted from the free company house.
• Disallowed characters are removed to the front gate of the estate.

Would be a nice addition since the game does have a bit of a stalking problem. Hasn't happened to me but I've seen or heard of it happening to lots of other people and GM response is...well a lack of one.

I'm actually surprised the game still doesn't have a feature that addresses this. I've heard of people trolling other people inside their own homes for days.

probably don't want to hurt the feelings of the people kicked out of the house just like they don't want to hurt the feelings of people removed from friends lists or some asinine bullshit like that.

This is exactly the reason I am suggesting it. Currently dealing with a big trolling problem for a venue, and the ability to remove/blacklist players from the FC house would negate the need for friends and patrons to submit dozens of reports. Allowing us to control who is in an estate places trust in the community to self-manage, and is compliant with existing SE policies: if they encourage us to self-manage and put verbally harassing characters on a blacklist for peace in chat, why can we not do the same thing with housing?

Don't want unwanted people in your house? Just make it private so only the FC can access it or the owner and any shared estate recipiants if personal house. :^)

As much as I like the idea presented, SE has shown how bad the disconnect is several times already so my hopes are lower than a dead dps' ACT parse.

The issue here is that when it's open, anyone can get in. When it's closed, no one else can get in, not even friends from other servers. The 'privacy controls' as they exist now are flawed and need to be changed.

I think this would be a good idea to implement, because of the issues of stalking, harassment, etc. You could just lock your house, but it can definitely be a pain if you want people to come over and see it or hangout and such and having to open and then re-lock it constantly. Just being able to blacklist certain people you don't want coming into your house would be a nice thing to have added, so you could keep your house open easier if you want to.

The game isn't that bad.

Anyway, a better permission system would be good.

Just lock your house and if one of your friend wants to see it . Open it for that time and then lock it again
