I have not won a FL match in 24 matches

3 weeks in a row with 1st being the highest %

now this week..

my win % is like under 20% and I have not won a match in 24 matches.

Why do they keep putting me on terrible teams?

I realize I am not elite but I am not dying 7, 8, 9 10+ times in a match. I cannot comprehend how someone dies that often without purposely feeding for w/e reasons.

I am not elite but I can read alliance chat.

I am not elite but I can keep a map open to see where's what when. I am on teams that routinely spread out to 5 or more locations.

This has sucked my desire to even try in matches now. I do not like actually trying only to lose with team mates who clearly dont care, have no business queue'ing for PVP, in this or ANY game quite frankly, or are straight up or trollin and feeding for friends on other teams.

I have decided I am not putting any effort to win until they put me on a team worth anything. I will sit in the base and touch myself and hope for the best. :eek:

Don't tell me to join premades. Every single one of those DRK premades can eat a big bag of dicks.

sometimes you cannot win. try SCH to spam BIO on all enemies

Best you can really do to least try and influence your team to win is just to become a shot caller. While it's not guaranteed that telling your team to do the right thing for a dub, least pointing them in the right direction can lead to people actually doing it and maybe even getting a win. Again, not guaranteed but trying to help out your team with strats like that is good.

to be fair, there's so much one can do in a 24+ man party in a 1vs1vs1 layout I wouldn't blame those losses on you
Many casual pvp'ers do FL instead of CC as it's part of the daily roulette so that might be one of reason so can't take those losses all that serious either.

Tbh your winrate will suffer to rng... That said there are ways to tilt rng more in your favor.
-become the team shotcaller is one of the easiest ways
-pick a high leverage FL job, such as ast or drk
-join a premade, doesnt have to be a drk comp, but even having an ast/drg combo can do wonders to shifting every teamfight into your favor.
-dont play shatter....its shatter, no one likes the new shatter (only partially joking on this one)

12 Chimpanzees working together on an neanderthal plan is more effective than 1 Einstein with a gigabrain strategy in this iteration of PvP.

A lot of the above advice I think is quite solid. If you are hellbent on carrying solo though I do have some additional tidbits of advice:

1. You need 1000's of games to have a deep understanding of how to exploit hivemind behavior to your advantage. (I know this probably isn't what you want to hear... but this is advice for SOLO carry)

2. It is extremely helpful to be able to play all of the meta jobs to allow you to swap when you see opportunities to take advantage of the first point. (You can shut down a DRK/DRG or DRG/AST premade as a solo WHM with miracle+LB on every single engagement, or as a solo MNK). There are more ways than these 2 jobs but dont want to type an essay here xD

3. Game is still carryable even when your team is spread all over the map. Can do this via shotcalling or by sticking with the largest group of players on your team and building battlehigh up with just these few players to get the ball rolling. (I say the largest group, but in reality if you can identify the group within your alliance with the high DPS pumpers that is better)

4. Piggy back on your teams meta job players. You can turn an avg DRK or DRG into a god with AST/WHM. If you have these jobs on your team, mark them as a focus target (it puts a littlw arrow on them) to make them easy to follow around. With a little trial and error, you can eventually find a DRK/DRG on your team that doesn't get insta killed on every engagement. And you can follow them around and helo them get battlehigh to allow your team a better chance to snowball.

Hope this helps. If you're not interested in playing so many games then... unfortunately i would indeed recommend joining a pre-made group. There are lots of discords that organize groups. I have heard a lot of mixed things about the helpfulness/welcoming nature of these communities so your mileage may vary. An alternative is to join a PvP linkshell, easy to find one on the official community finder page! I have FC members who have had great experiences with linkshells. Good luck!

But I have to ask anyone able to speak to it, what's the 'meta' draw of AST in FL?

In my mind its greatest strengths seem to be on demand heavy/bind and its relative ease of getting assists due to Macrocosmos' range.

But, its cards and LB, while stronger than for the expected 5 players in CC, is hampered just by how many more players there are to contend with, not to mention how infrequently you can expect your team to be together in many circumstances, even before considering distances between your ranged and your diving melee jobs.

What an I missing? Is it just that River /cards and Macro are a larger force multiplier for your couple DRGs Skyshattering and eventually with battle highs?

I haven't played FL much recently and I feel like I haven't seen too many ASTs in general there before.

You are very close. The main force multiplier are the cards and LB, and gravity, which slows all enemies allowing the DRG to hit more targets. If you have a DRG in your party, and give them a card damage boost + LB damage boost... and apply heavy/limp to a large crowd... the DRG could potentially wipe an entire alliance depending on his/her battle high stacks. The slow from gravity effectively acts as a low teir DRK draw-in (makes it more difficult for enemies to escape the DRG LB nuke).

Since you can not rely on coordinating this as effectively as in a pre-made group... you have to follow the DRG around (focus macro) and watch their behavior. Pay attention to how they behave when they are about to use their LB (they will usually begin to dive in, even solo sometimes, because they are confident they can pop LB and go into immunity). When you recognize their pattern, you need to instantly give them damage card and pop your limit break BEFORE the DRG goes into Sky High animation. And while they are sky high, help them by slowing targets with gravity.

When done correctly, you boost their 40k damage LB by 40% for a grand total of 56k damage (this is assuming the DRG has ZERO battle high). 56k damage is an auto death to any non tank/melee job. This will likely give the DRG an instant battle high level 3-4, and you collect battle high for all the assist kills. The battle high that this generates begins a snowballing effect allowing you to change the tide of a match with literally 1 global cooldown. This takes practice, it takes patience to learn, and you need to be ok with failing a LOT before you get better at pulling it off. But it is entirely doable even without a pre-made.

The benefit of being able to play other jobs is that sometimes you wont have a DRG or DRK (or you have a newbie) in your party. So depending on your party comp there are other jobs you can swap to for other types of counters and set-ups.

Sounds very much like a skill issue and rng. At this point you might as well buy a lottery ticket. Also DRK premades are an old meme. You just need to right click people with high bh and identify them so that you can play around them next matches, or shut them down with something like sam/nin/mnk. They usually are the biggest factors as to why you might lose if they're not on your team.

This happened to me a few weeks ago over 50 games with just 12 wins, i had like 37%-38 1st place win rate then it hard dropped to 33% toeven out with the 2nd and 3rd place.Then the week after i went on a winning streak for 15 plus games and close ones, im unsure what can cause this(there was alot new player in my teams)but most of my losses came from shatter since no one wanted to pvp, Even if you become a shot caller and it still doesnt allow you to win any games. There is also rng too which you cannot control it. try next week and see if its still the same.
