Chocobo Whistle

Is there a way to turn it off without muting system sounds altogether? It's really annoying after hearing a few hundred times.

The chocobo whistling falls under Sound Effects. You could mute just Sound Effects while leaving the other categories under Volume Settings at their normal volume.

If you only want to isolate the whistling to be muted without affecting any other sounds, there's no way to do it within the game controls. It wouldn't surprise me if there's some third party mod that is capable of doing it but such mods are against the ToS so any use would be at your own risk.

Just in case you meant the chocobo mount theme music, you CAN disable that in configuration settings, sound settings, "music while mounted".

Certain mounts have unique or referential themes, and your can enable or disable these when you acquire new ones if you're interested.

I'm not talking about the music playing when mounted. I have music turned off.

I'm meaning the whistling when you summon it.

You can use /soundeffect 0 in a macro to turn off sound effects, then use the item and then use a macro with /soundeffect 100 or whatever value you want it. You can drag the item in a hotbar and make it therefore take 3 button presses.

If one day the devs would finally let us use items inside a macro then it could all be merged into 1 macro

Technically the Chocobo Whistle as an item is the thing that adds it to you mount guide.
But I'm just guessing through context that they mean the actual whistling motion you do to summon it.
