So, why did Ishgard had that battle with the GCs of all the other nations? I tried to read everything but I didn't understand.
Can someone please help? I think it's between the Dragonsong quests.

It was supposed to be a friendly sparring match between Ishgard and the rest of the Eorzean Alliance, since Ishgard hadn't been part of the Alliance for a very long time. I forget if they withdrew after the Battle of Silvertear Skies (about 15 years prior to ARR) or Carteneau (about 5 years prior to ARR).
To give their war-focused culture a new purpose after the end of the Dragonsong War. Ishgard was having a bit of an identity crisis and needed a new direction. They also needed to show the rest of the Eorzean Alliance that they could stand with them as equals against other threats facing the continent. (Of course, one could argue that bringing in the Warrior of Light as a ringer undercuts their point, but.....)
It basically served as an act of solidarity for the Eorzean Alliance, with the added advantage of being a morale boost, of sorts, for the Ishgardian people (who were experiencing a "everything we've been taught to believe over the past thousand years was a lie" epiphany) and needed to find their place, and prove themselves worthy, to join the Alliance.
It also put Emmanelain and House Fortemps back in a better light.
thanks to everyone for the quick responses!
there are a few character card generators out there for example: https://arcanumxiv.neocities.org
It was a friendly wargame between the city states, meant as a morale booster.
Your face off with the Bull of Ala Mihgo was the capstone event, two of Eorzeas's best and deadliest warriors in a one on one, friendly bout yes..but with a subtle undertone, proving the General was still very much capable or hammering ANYONE into the ground.
