What determines if a quest turns red or disappears completely on map?

Something I've noticed over the years but never figured out is some quests turn red and some disappear completely from the map when you don't meet the requirements to start it (eg on a crafter job)

Here are the quests on the map as a white mage

And here as a crafter. Most turn red, but 2 to the right of the Aetheryte and 1 at the Last Stand disappear completely.

What determines if a quest disappears vs turning red?
