Shield values

Did the devs ever explain why they allow sage shields to overwrite scholar shields?

Why can’t the largest value shield remain on? It’s so weird to me that they are allowing this. To see a critlo shield taken over by a simple eukrasian prognosis is heartbreaking. I know some people don’t mean it but it’s muscle memory for some. Then you have those that troll just to be mean.

Can we please just keep the higher value shield on. That’s it and that’s all.

To save on server calculations probably. Rather than checking every time 'which shield is stronger, for this person' across the whole party, it just overwrites it every time. Alterantively, it prioritises SGE shields because SGE is the dev's favorite child atm gets something when their shield is broken (addersting) and SCH doesn't, so it's 'more of a loss' for the SGE shield to be wasted than the SCH one, even though the SCH one cost a Deployment Tactics CD

yeh idk either, and considering how many shields we have access to now that DO stack (aka, all of them except Galvanise/Diagnosis/Prognosis) it's a wonder why they keep those ones exclusive. If they're worried about 'oh but then mit checks would be too easy if you had two shields on everything' then that just shows there's an issue with how they 'challenge healers', by making everything too mit-check heavy

All the other shields are on long cooldowns.

It just still makes me wonder how its ok for regens to stack like an ast/whm or 2 ast/2 whm regen all stack though in ast case before EW it was hilarious seeing 2 ast in a party in dirunal and the regens did not stack. With stances gone that was change. I kinda did wish they did do the system to have 1 shield 1 pt, I hate being paired up with another sage period, i dont mind a sch I can work around it since it can work but good lord in alliance raid when you see the 2 pure healers together and the 2 shield healers together am like ok. like sch/sch/ sge/sge is whack, only thing sages wont overwrite each other on is physis 2. Back on topic yeah its cause I guess they want use to make sure we can get our addersting back but this not a proper way of doing it at all. We just will have to see what will happen in 7.0

The reason why two regens can stack and not shields is rather simple because scholar alone can 0 most damage, if scholar is using deployment tactics on single galvanize. If sage shields and sch shields stacked this would just be the normal now without needing deployment. Regen doesn't save you from death or being one shot unironically enough, that's why the shields the healers bring have value or at least more value I would argue than a regen (when they are needed)

Also Regens aren't exclusive to whm and ast, ironically sage has the most party regens right next to ast...the only party regens whm brings is their hard cast[which most times you shouldn't be using] and asylum in reflection to sch (fairy regen and mitigation orb).

Value although is questionable given healers might not be even needed given the party composition and what content the party is doing, this being a design flaw.

Why they don't add additional checks, is they would probably burden the server on conditionals... I have seen eastern code developing and it is not pretty...(I think it resolves around being paid on the length of the code you do (theirs typically loaded with comments) vs the efficiency of said code, South Korean companies do this. Nexon is one said offender.)

Medica 2 also has a hot component.
Sch has soil, whispering dawn, aetherpact and arguably embrace depending on how you look at it. I think there’s a stronger case for embrace than kardia at the very least.

Dunno I find it weird how AST gets to have Neutral Sect to generate solid shields themselves that can be paired with Galvanize and Eukrasian shields and also problem free overlap in the Regen department with Collective and Celestial Opp., over what SCH and SGE have, but SCH SGE is not allowed to overlap shields...

SCH SGE is fine to play but it is just such jank that they insist on the shield limitation, like what exactly will it break that we can't break with AST SCH or AST SGE?

Yeah its funny how that works even when ast had dual stances and there was 2 ast, the dirunal shields all stack up with the noct ones with a combination of dirunal neutral aspected helios, dirunal intersection with noct aspected helios + noct celestial opposition having a total of 7 regens + 4 shields. In a ast/sch which I know ast is to be in dirunal with a sch co healer, but one shield that would work with the sch gal was the celestial op shield not the aspected one.

There was also that absolutely retarded pre-pull Neutral Stance opener.

Noct Stance + Neutral Stance -> Aspected Helios Shield + Neutral Helios Regen, Celestial Opposition then:
Diurn Stance + Neutral Stance -> Aspected Helios Regen + Neutral Helios Shield

That alone just invalidated a ton of opening raidwide attacks. With Scholar just throwing in Sacred Soil + Whispering Dawn and AST throwing Earthly Star anyways, you literally needed basically nothing else even on fights like E8S's first Diamond Frost/Dust.
