Why is the playerbase so mentally fragile now

Got a Scholar who couldn't heal a big pull and we all died. I used quick translation and just said "Recitation + Indom"

Lo and behold the scholar just went offline right after 2 seconds

Pulled a boss right as I saw Viewing Cutscene ended and someone freaked out and just stood there and started typing out an essay in alliance chat, saying I'm ruining someone else's experience. Best part is the sprout didn't even say anything.

Obviously this has always existed. But... Why is this more and more common now?

Why does FF14 uniquely attract so many mentally fragile people lol. These people won't ever survive something like WoW or Lost Ark.

This game is like the ultimate safe space for people, cant criticize the game, cant criticize the players, no official parses, cant comment on someone's dps or you get banned, it's something of its own really, it can be a bit scary sometimes how triggered people get in this game compared to other games.

Meanwhile while you get banned for saying "low dps", bots are everywhere, flying under all the main cities and never get banned at all, same for RMT, it's pretty pathetic tbh

Ah yes, world of Warcraft, the game that died after wrath of the litch king removed anything interesting or difficult combat-wise, killed guilds by reducing raids from 40 to 25, got rid of downranking spells, simplified talent trees, said “hey remember naxx lol, you have to do the nerfed version as this expacs flagship raid”, over 10 years ago, that’s the game your trying to compare us to? Game that’s been a joke since cataclysm. Wow is just as casual focused as ff14 now, don’t kid yourself. I cleared vanilla naxx on patch and was the mind control priest, can’t yank my chain about WoW. Don’t be so dramatic.

I will agree a lot of modern gamers are far too precious, but I blame that on growing up with social media and participation trophies, and it’s not unique to 14.

really right? talk about fragility

As I say in many other threads, They over moderate chat, and swearing in a game with literal chat filters is enough for them to hand out account warnings and temp bans all willy nilly. But anything that requires investigation? You can bet they don't care whatsoever about that.

As for the fragile community, its attracted all sorts of people who can't handle constructive criticism, or feedback of any kind whatsoever. Predators roam freely throughout the RP and venue world, protected by the community and labeling anyone calling these predators out as "harassers" and "haters". They know well enough to keep their harassment to discord and off of ingame chat, so nothing can ever be done to them, no matter how bad the Discord logs are.

But at the same time, it has to be said that the over moderation has wiped out the majority of people who would otherwise be obnoxious trolls. But is it worth it if in return we get a neutered chat system that heavily restricts our speech?
