Another Pal an War buff patch, another middle finger to Drks

This is about the 4th damage increase Pal and War's have gotten this expac, at first I agreed their damage was decently lower than Drks but the difference now between a Drk's damage and a Pal or War is not even slightly comparable to the difference in self sustain.

This is just more devs not liking Drk and not caring about the playerbase. Yeah Drk's get picked the most for the high end raiding, because you have two healers that can basically keep it alive and only 1 mob hitting them. That's 1% of the game, the rest of the 99% of content is nothing but pain an misery even if you were well geared. Anytime a new expert drops the Drk's are the only tank that struggles to wall to wall.

You also see it in Bozja, whenever a duel occurs if the picked targets a Drk everyone just goes o well this is lost, because Drks can't solo anything. Remember when a War Solo'd an on expac raid like a month after it's release, but sure sure they don't need to loose any self sustain, what they clearly need is more damage.

War mains are the fat kid on the playground when everyone is pretending to be a super hero. Every kid has 1 or 2 powers, but they want to have all the superpowers.
They won't stop crying till they are the best at everything.

So did pld and gnb if you’re talking about asphodelos. Not sure if gnb did p2n too to be fair.

Dark knight has an extra personal mitigation, shorter short mit than the others, second shortest cd invuln, oblations, a % based party mitigation and yes, high damage benefitting greatly from downtime. It’s not in the best of places for dungeons, but don’t pretend it’s not insane in high end content or that experts are remotely challenging for a decently geared one.

It’s basically going to boil down to damage being the only metric that really matters in 2/2/4 endgame content, which is probably more an indictment of their combat design and need for jobs within a role to be fully interchangeable than anything.

Maybe it's just time to accept that DRK is great in all types of content and doesn't need buffs.

Which is a problem because you spend less time in raids than you do in all other content. Sure experts are ok as Drk once you've spent a month of hard as sweaty grind to gear up but on release all other tanks breeze the content Drks sruggle. The arguement made for taking away all of the Drks self sustain was that they do the highest damage and now patch per patch they've closed the damage gap but haven't increased Drks self sustain once.

Not even asking for a huge jump, put a small self heal or barrier on our aoe rotation. Or give us back sole survivor which was taken away from us and given to reapers

A quick look at FFLogs for Abyssos is all you need to know as to why Warrior and Paladin got their damage buffed.
If anything I'd argue Gunbreaker didn't need any buffs, it already pulls ahead of Dark Knight on some fights.

All content below extreme trials is such a cakewalk that balance is irrelevant. Dark Knight is not struggling in dungeons, nobody is struggling in dungeons.

I mean they took away dark knight’s sustain going into shadowbringers and it wasn’t all that great in any field there. We’ll have to wait and see how much forced downtime there is this tier, but it’s entirely possible it still comes out on top by some margin, particularly with the substat increase.
They did turn living dead into big bloodwhetting back in 6.2 or so. Maybe the intent is ld one set, kitchen sink then next and hope it’s not a fast enough run to run into timer issues? Not much consolation there I admit.

Still want my cone back, making things even more brain dead isn't going to change that ...

The healer can basically ignore PLD/WAR and they'll be fine. Seriously, I've gone through runs of Manalis and didn't heal those two jobs at all and they easily kept themselves alive in packs of enemies. GNB and DRK, I had to actually babysit, especially the DRK.

I think it's safe to say....DRK is the DPS benchmark for tanks. That's my point of view anyway. The DRK I run savage with thumps pretty hard. I can barely come close to that damage as a WAR. And honestly....WAR and PLD needed it....like 2 patches ago. This is just bringing the tanks up in line with each other. Sure could have used this during my P8s prog.
