I'm sure it has been discussed multiple times across multiple forums about a desire to have alts as tenants in private housing. When housing is account bound and you're unable to bid on a private house on your new main without destroying the alts house prior... that greatly increases your chances of not having a house period. Then you're left with the dilemma of "Do I keep a house I can no longer really use, or do I destroy it and hope for the best?".
I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know the inner working of servers/how this would be done from a tech perspective, but I can't imagine it's an impossible feat to allow oneself to have an alt as a tenant. If it's a concern of RMT (idk, I just know that is the excuse with mailing to alts/adding them as friends), it's not like it can't be done with FCs, so there really is no logical reason I can think of to continue to disregard desires of a large multitude of the community. Even if there was a reason, I think many would appreciate it being discussed in a live letter as to why it isn't possible. Otherwise, we are left scratching our heads and doing the joke of Square being a "small indie company".

SE has told us that it is on their list of things to do but they want to focus on improving access to houses for all players before they devote a significant amount of time to a QoL improvement for players that already have one. Evidently it is not a simple fix for them with their code set up.

Oh really? Good to know. I’ve been kicking around demolishing my current house on a character I no longer play for my main but uh… a beachfront Shiro large will likely never come my way again. Figured I’d try putting another 2 cents out there and hope for the best. Might be small but it’s just not the same feeling of porting home as opposed to porting to kugane, then shiro, then walking to the house to get home only to have to log onto an alt to actually do anything. Support that, I would support it more as Alts would be the owner as well and make housing account based rather than individual.... so we can tenants other people thise more.

If they can figure out you have houses on alts to forbid you from bidding in the lottery, I'm sure they could also give you access to that house.Quote:

Yea I would love to see account bound housing where all alts are automatically “owners” with the main “owner” still needing to reset the demo timer. Tenant slots shouldn’t be impacted by that as friends and relationships tend to take those slots.
Regarding instanced housing on island sanctuary, I feel like I saw a rumor that it’s in the works but… we all know how rumors go -
