I wish we could decorate and build our own Island dock.

I imagine a bustling little dock with a welcoming entryway, and a side building. What is its purpose?

Nothing. Just a wonderful entry point to welcome our guests. Maybe it could play into the storyline, and mark an achievement of becoming a notable trader in the world.

I wonder how many people actually use their islands to receive friends.

I have personally never heard of anyone doing that.

I had friends come by to visit occasionally when the islands were new but it's been a while since the last visit. There really isn't much point when everyone's island is almost the exact same thing and there is nothing for visitors to do except look at things they already see on their own islands. It's something interesting for those still working on MSQ that can't get their own island yet and that's about it.

It's perfectly in theme with IS being an isolated getaway. It's not a place that's really meant for OSHA inspec... visitors that might distract you and the mammets from furthering Tataru's empire.

Bingo. Maybe someday way down the line (if the IS keeps getting love from the devs) there'll be a point, but as it is it's weird that there's even the option. If I want to see a friend's self-expression and how it differs from mine, I go with their glams or their house.

New update is going to make a huge difference in everyones islands.

I want to build an industrial shipping eyesore off the beach of my island. If it's going to be Tataru's sweatshop, may as well look the part.

Would love to have this, hadn't really fleshed the idea out but it was funny to post "ehy we should have a dock" and then basically at the same time see another post say it at the same time. Spiritual high five lol. Though I would like it to do something :P

Beyond the potential visual value of having a dock, especially as you get to the point of all building completed and rank 3 (so your village looks bustling), I feel it could be a nice addition gameplay mechanic wise to the island. Once you get the Island completed it feels like there should be some systems in place to encourage, at some rate, direct contact. My only fear, and it's a silly one, is avoiding to destroy the coral near your island entrance... cause.. that just seems like a shame lol. Not enough of a shame just to entirely cancel such ideas but like.. if they could avoid doing that.. that'd be nice XD.

Will probably add more in a bit, but for gameplay values was thinking about being able to ship to other nations, custom delivery npcs, specific npc / organizations (Garlond Ironworks?), and beast tribes (maybe particularly beast tribes). With some mechanics to be able to translate the Island Sanctuary funds into other types of rewards. I was thinking like a sort of GC / Beast Tribe crafting trade in system, so you would be encouraged to produce specific goods (or gather specific items) and you could turn them in at a weekly limit for other things. Like potentially X converts into Y tomestone (but one time in the week), it might even be like a list that changes weekly, with some being "star" value trades, and you can pick a certain number of them. Trade a bunch of resources for some MGP tokens (was thinking not directly MGP so you still have to visit the saucer).

For Friends / people visiting, I feel if it's really important to SE / people they can always just encourage it.... Weekly Challange Visit X Islands and grant one of their buildings a blessing (small buff to whatever it's doing), meanwhile outside of the challenge you'd get a blessing in return (or potentially try to add Death Stranding like mechanics and see if a community of sharing might grow out of it). Get small gather quests on other people's islands, earn IS exp and one of the cowrie token types. Etc.
