I don't really see the point in this since at the end of the day most people don't commend based on personal performance or at all rendering commendations essentially useless anyway...
Is it really such a problem? Commendations are irrelevant anyway. Especially since they introduced the new portrait system and people give out commendations based on that more than anything else.
This thread was a year old with zero replies, buried at the bottom of a garbage dump and entirely forgotten by the world. Then someone dug it out, said "I disagree", and left it in the spotlight for a second chance at life.
Apologies if it came across as snarky, it was intended to mildly critical but mostly silly. That said, on second read I can see how it came across as snarky and I'll own that unintended mistake.
I also didn't know that the specific sub-forum this post was in had literally been abandoned for a year, as I simply saw it at the top of New Posts outside of that context. Hearing your perspective makes it clear that this was an unintended necro brought about by chance circumstances, rather than apathy, etc. Thanks for setting the record straight!
People do guildhests to get commendations?
Have they tried just playing well and being nice?
I've found that you don't even need to play well; there have been plenty of times as a DPS when I was tripping over mechanics left and right, and in spite of that I still leave with a comm.
I think that as long as you're not a jerk and do something that someone appreciates — whether that's having a nice portrait/glam, saying something kind/amusing, or yes, even playing well — you've got a good chance of getting a comm.
