CWLS needs improving

Crossworld linkshells are a great feature but they need to be able to house more members and they need critical information in the UI like when a member was last online, so that admin in said CWLSes can prune inactives easily.

That's it, that's all I want. Devs are talking about more furniture space in houses come 7.0 so hopefully they remember Crossworld linkshells exist and give them some QoL too. Let me add more people. Let me kick the inactive people without literally creating a watchlist and observing members all week to make sure they're actually inactive. ty

They do need all this and linkshells needed this as well, but they seem abandoned most of the time except for maintenance issues or when world visit released which made them useful as a means to connect across worlds. Many people have posted about this issue and even reported them as bugs and given up.

I've kinda given up too. Just figured I'd make a post since the furniture cap talk and 7.0 and just lately in general have the devs talking about making "forgotten" things good and dipping into QoL

Linkshells are limited because they are meant for like a small group of friends or statics who are spread out across different servers. They don't want to make it any more than that because they don't want them to interfere with free companies.

None of that makes any sense. If crossworld linkshells were intended for small statics, they wouldn't have 64 slots to begin with. The notion that Square cares about FC integrity is also a load of crap, since solo FC housing incentives and submarines have totally destroyed any tangible reason to join a free company for most people. Furthermore, if CWLSes were intended for small statics, why have 64 spots? Why not 8? Genuinely curious what your source is, or when it was said.

SE actually seems to view CWLS as a form of cross-world Free Company because they are listed in the Community Finder along with Free Companies.

Hard agree, +100. CWLs are waaaaaay too tiny.
No one cares about FCs. Like..sorry, but they're just not and never will be relevant. People only have FCs either to get a house or to be kinda weirdly controlling of strangers, in my experience. Most people usually arent on the same server as their friends are anyway, so making an FC doesnt work. Servers get closed for months at a time for being too populated cutting people off from each other, or people move for houses to a newer server, or some just accidentally started somewhere and dont want to leave, or some prefer that servers marketboard-there are a multitude of reasons that players play on different servers as their friends and can't be an FC altogether, which is why CWLs are so important. To take that spot, and let friends still have a way to talk to each other without joining a party-an oldschool 'buddy list' chat, as I used to know it. but as it stands currently, it is simply too small. An update to that number would be greatly appreciated.

That might be your experience with FCs and certainly there are some like that but there are a lot of good FCs out there as well.

I see linkshells as a resource for players with specific interests or to connect across worlds. The 64 limit really is very annoying because ends up leading to even more linkshells being created when fewer could serve the purpose better if the limit was increased.

But I still remember YoshiP's story from some years back when they tried testing a 256 linkshell limit on their internal servers and ran into major problems. I want to say that was around the end of Stormblood though. Perhaps with the infrastructure upgrade they're working on they'll be able to give another (and successful) try.
