I noticed a pattern with the new PvP mode
A Realm Reborn:
The Volcanic Heart
Heavensward:
Cloud Nine
Stormblood:
The Clock Work Castletown
Endwalker:
The Palaistra
We are only missing an Endwalker map, so I wonder if this will be next, or if instead they will go the route of just adding different missing regions as maps. I.e. Gridania, Uldah, etc.
In the lore these maps are merely simulations inspired by the the regions the game takes place in. It wouldn't be out of the lore for an imagined version of our time in The First, but also the devs seem reluctant on if The First will ever get features in other modes like previous expansions did after their releases. I speculate that it is because inhabitants of The Source don't normally know about The First, save for a few. Until that secret becomes a little more well known, we may not get it as a glamoured arena. Of course, they could always just handwave a Shadowbringers PVP map as being a mere imagining of a fairy tale to Eorzean inhabitants, in order to explain the NPCs involvement in it.
Personally, I think they should, because Shadowbringers remains the most popular expansion to date, but I also wouldn't mind seeing Thanalan and Gridania added into the Crystaline Conflict. It does feel weird to have a representation of La Noscea, but not the other two sister city states.
Anyway I'm just hoping that one day Shadowbringers gets a PVP map of some kind, and I think that the Crystaline Conflict would be the safest lore way for doing so.
