Small Houses should get a second floor.

It would help make them even more fair. Its weird that mediums and larges get three floors when we dont. :(

My only issue with this is it would look downright weird with some of the exteriors. I'd like to see it regardless though.

Also, did you know that cottages didn't originally have a basement? That 3x3 square was all you got when they were released. That's why mediums and mansions have their staircases integrated into the layout, and cottages have them off in another room.

I was kinda surprised they didn’t bring back the one story cottage for Island Sanctuary! lol

But yeah, I love the way the stairs are done in the smalls. An attic could be added, making a similar staircase on the left-hand side of the ground floor. I actually made a thread about this awhile ago. Would be nice to have all the house sizes be 3 floors… maybe when they tackle the item limit increase in 7.x. :)

I wouldn't be opposed if they removed the basement for a second floor.

You can already make a second floor with lofts though, it's actually pretty easy and gives some nice extra space

Sure, but somehow I doubt that's what OP had in mind. As making that hurts the already lacking inventory cap for housing items.

They should just add stairs to an upper floor to the already existing staircase. Just have it wrap around the corner and go along the north edge of the house to give access to another 3x3 floor. That could be implemented with minimal effect on existing decorations... except those that furnish the void area above the main floor :D
