Controller not registering inputs (Square Enix store copy on PC)

Hi I have a nintendo switch pro con, and I recently bought an Xbox Series X controller to try to get the problem fixed.

Essentially the game only takes in inputs within a half second interval, then stops. I've tried linking and delinking my account to steam as a non steam game, but no dice.

The strangest part is that I've cleared abyssos with my pro controller, while linked as a non steam game, but it only stopped working recently, and i'm not sure why. I have no other addons including shaders, or external drivers for the controllers, so I'm not sure what could have caused this ;-;.
