Not a Material Girl male/female dialog differences

When you do this lvl 10 quest at Bentbranch in the Central Shroud, one NPC gives you different dialog depending on whether you are male or female. Seems a touch sexist.

Female player character:

Bernard: What's that about Miss Keitha? Hmph, doing that peddler's dirty work, are you?
Bernard: If that half-wit thinks some shiny trinket will move her heart, then he's dafter than he looks. Any fool can see Miss Keitha is only interested in her birds.
Bernard: Tell Kukuvachi from me that if he persists in harassing the head wrangler, the Wood Wailers'll remove him from Bentbranch Meadows for disturbing the peace. Got that?

Male player character:

Bernard: What's that about Miss Keitha? You looking to stir up trouble, son?
Bernard: If you think some shiny trinket will move her heart, then you don't know her like I─ Er, that is...Miss Keitha is only interested in her birds.
Bernard: Listen here, adventurer─if your actions cause her any distress, the Wood Wailers'll come down on you so hard your boots'll leak blood. Got that?

Oh, I can imagine they intended that char to be that way but in general, Gridanians are racist rather than sexist

yes it happens with magnai in msq too
nothing wrong with that bc the npcs are depictions of made-up people with their own personalities, attitudes, beliefs, etc n stuff
doesn't mean it reflects the whole game or the views of the devs or whoever so i don't think the words an npc says is really a problem.....anywhere
people as a whole being generally racist doesn't stop individuals from having different attitudes towards people bc of their appearance (masculine or feminine). honestly it'd be more interesting with multiple gameplays if /more/ characters had different dialogues depending on the player's sex. shrug

but like...people irl have different approaches to people based off their appearance all the time, a lot of times stemming from past experiences with people who look or seem or act a similar way, i don't think there's anything wrong with varying dialogue. also it's kinda...not sexist just to say something different bc of gender. the guy's aggressive either way

Some NPCs speak to you differently depending your race.
Some based on gender.
Some based on if you played 1.0 or not.

Variance exists and it's a nice touch, not something to try to call out for cancelling or whatever.

While I agree that sexism is unacceptable, does it mean that characters in a video game can't be sexist?

Let me pose the following:
I'd like to believe that the non-psychotic individuals of this world would agree that murder is wrong. Yet, our Warrior of Light goes around slaughtering people all the time. Maybe these Garlemond Imperials are actually conscripted into Zenos' army under penalty of death if they desert. What of that poor Imperial who has a fictional wife and child that won't go home because we Fell Cleaved or Deathflared him into ash?

What about the animals (aggro or not) we slaughter all the time? What about the animals we keep in the pasture at our island? They are certainly kept against their will. Should PETA come down on us for that?

I think we need to keep things like that in mind before we focus on some dialogue in this fictional video game.
