FPS drops when moving cursor

So I seem to be facing a bizarre problem that only started recently after I returned from a 2-month hiatus that started in December. My unchanged setup back then ran mostly flawlessly, but now the game's FPS tanks to 50-60 whenever I move my mouse cursor.

My system should be more than capable of 165 fps (my monitor refresh rate) in empty areas, but whenever I move my mouse, not even the camera, my FPS dips. This happens even on the title screen, which is baffling. The shift in FPS makes the game jittery, but again, it only happens when I move my cursor. I've also noticed that my GPU utilizations drops significantly when this happens, but again, I don't know why.

I've tried reinstalling GPU drivers, the game, and my mouse drivers. I tried a different mouse and different settings, but nothing has fixed the problem so far. No other game has this issue, and I can't really have a basic enjoyable experience like this, let alone play extreme/savage content. Help would be greatly appreciated!

We would like to assist with the FPS issues you are experiencing. Please try the following to see if these help:
- Try switching to DirectX 9 by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher.
- Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card. (We understand you have done this, however, we would ask of you to try once more.)
- Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything.
- Please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed to the C: Drive. It seems you currently have it installed on the O: Drive.
- Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup.
- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
- Reinstall game.

Alright, so disabling the discord overlay has helped the problem. The FPS drops are not as severe but are still present.

Edit: So upon further testing, I can't really tell if it has actually helped the problem. Might be within the margin of error. The core issue still persists, however

Alright, so I managed to resolve the issue by reducing my mouse's polling rate from 1000 to 125 Hz. Now the game is unaffected FPS-wise by mouse movement.
