Bozja Improvement Ideas

This isn't a critiquing thread, but rather I feel like it should be a discussion on how I think FFXIV Dev team could improve Bozja now that we're on the next expansion and relic quests.


Personally for myself: I would like the ability to buy any remaining notes with the clusters. Now I don't mean change everything completely, just allow people to buy the missing notes that they don't have for 200 clusters a pop. That way, they can still get any missing notes and there's a healthier alternative than ripping your hair out and bawling out your eyes on a 1v1.

Like add a Researcher NPC or something who's studying clusters aether-chemical density (Or something) and have them be like- "But I won't leave you high and dry either, if I see an intriguing character, I'll do my best to get notes on them for you!"

And yes, I do know you can get most from CE's and Skirmishes, but when the Notes have an extremely low drop rate, it gets irritating.

(I have a mental disability so if I can't consistently practice something, I forget how to do it. so 1v1's are the bane of my existence.)

And this isn't me being all like "I want easier content! Blah blah blah..." I have been grinding for notes 11 and 14 SINCE they became my last two (So about a year of off and on Bozja-ing Because I Have been trying to take brakes but it doesn't help the larger issue of, if players can't get the notes, then they get frustrated. You can't trade the papers before using them.

I want to move on from this and enjoy other content but I can't because my brain won't let me enjoy without the Skybike from 12.


TL;DR: Add a Notes menu to the Cluster Shop so that people can move on from bozja and get the bike and not detract from the spirit of Bozja itself.

I think before they improve the completionist aspects like the mount, they should give a look at nerfing some of the story aspects again like CLL, DR, DAL, etc. On low population servers and times they're just impossible to get enough players on to clear. I know it's technically possible to solo some of these if you are at max everything and run certain essences, but people doing it for the story will not have those and will need a decent sized party to make up for it. For how awful Eureka is, they did make it entirely soloable, but for Bozja they refuse to make it soloable to do the story.

The one thing I'd nerf about CLL is to remove the enrage from the top/bottom bosses, it can be frustratingly hard to gauge how you should sync kill them due to how wildly different power levels can be within Bozja, between someone with max buffs and someone without even essences, just let the side that completes first join the other side and kill both bosses, or make them share a HP gauge, or something.

The notes are fine the way they are now, I think they're already being generous enough by giving you RNG chances to skip the duels. The duels are still there and still just as accessible as they've always been, if you can't beat them then the skybike isn't for you.

The only way I could see notes for clusters being a positive change is if they make cluster vouchers similar to bicolor gemstones so that they can charge 1000+ clusters each for the duel notes, if you're bypassing the challenge it should take should take much more time, and maybe then the MB prices for all of the cluster items will start going back up.

Leave Bozja alone please. Quit lobotomizing the game, it's some of the best content we have. Delubrum is kind of meh but CLL and everything else is actually fun and enjoyable. You also have to work together to pass instances etc... it's a rare breed of content that should stay as is.

I wish I could miss something from Bozja so I could grind it. But I would still vote no. Think of all those memories you are gonna have in the end for your relics! :)

The notes are absolutely not fine as they are now. I can scarcely understand the mentality someone has to have to look at the way it's structured and say 'yes, this is fine'. While most of the notes are acceptable, there are certainly a major handful where your only two options are to farm a specific mob for an unknowable amount of time until an invisible set of conditions are met, hope there's enough people active in the instance to help complete the Fate you spent over an hour triggering, make sure you're in a party so you don't lose credit for completion, and there's a pathetically small chance of the note dropping. Alternatively, you can do the exact same set up with a different mob, trigger a Fate chain to trigger a CE, pray enough people participate and know what they're doing to clear, be sure not to get hit one single time, then hope you're the lucky one to have one chance at the Duel, for which most reasonable people use very unintended methods to cheese anyway, but good luck going through all that and setting up the cheese and executing it having had no first-hand experience with the duel prior. And if you fail it or miss it, oh well, back on a 1-2 hour timer it goes. It is an excruciating experience and I just can't understand how anyone would ever defend it.

Simple alternatives would make for a vastly more enjoyable experience. Duels could be on constant rotation, no triggers required and if someone fails it lets someone else try. Notes could be made tradeable, keeping an incentive for people to farm the rarest ones as they'd sell for a fair bit. Coins or clusters could be used to purchase notes. Completion of note-related Fates could yield guaranteed 'totem' drops which after so many you could turn them in for the note. Literally anything would be a much-needed improvement.

And if there's a fear that making notes easier to get would somehow kill Bozja, you're neglecting the people that are there and run the content because they enjoy it, for the story, for XP, for loot, and so on. And if it's such a concern it could die then maybe it needs a better reason to be played than holding people hostage with godawful drop rates and spawn timers, which don't even encourage people to play all of Bozja, rather staying to killing those very specific mobs and camping the same Fates.

Fun, a mount, a customizable relic that is still the top choice to clear old ults because of stat customization, hair styles, furniture. But the best is the content/story since it will always be relevant to someone who wants to play the game and experience what it has to offer. I.E. Heavensward is very relevant to a new player but not to someone who has finished the expansion. As such, Bozja is relevant to you.

They honestly should just drastically increase the drop rate for all of the super rare ones and call it a day.

Oh, and rework DR so it's not just dead outside of PF.
