How much of the game's content have you actually completed?

And also how much of the game's content are you actually interested in?

It's just something that's been on my mind. Everyone is always talking about the content drought lately, but I feel like a lot of people don't realize how much content there already is in-game.

I'm sure some of that's coming from long time veteran players who keep up with everything in-game, but I'm also curious as to how many people just do the MSQ, and maybe some a tiny bit of whatever side content interests them before leaving the rest.

Also, from personal experience, I've run into a lot of people that actually mock you or think you're crazy for bothering with different pieces of side content. So just curious about how that holds up.

I honestly have barely scratched the surface of many aspects of the game because I have no interest in them.

Anything tied to crafting in this game for me is a hard pass because I absolutely loathe this games crafting. I'm a masochist who enjoyed the old MMO style crafting of mass afk crafting components and then let RNG take the wheel.

Not a lot hit 90 in Jan..got fishing to 90 botanist in the 80s I think. Got two jobs in the 50s but there's so much to do, I need to figure out treasure maps I've never done one, also going to figure out hunt train stuff, got to finish Mandeville quest for my relic weapon I got to level up alchemy or some disciple of hand so I can meld materia, I also got to do the quest lines to unlock extreme and Savage content then find a group for that ugh so much to do

Started playing at the end of the Shadowbringers expansion.
I finished ARR/HW/SB/SHB/EW MSQ without skipping cutscenes " twice " on two characters. On my main I finished all Fates. Savage fights SHB E9S to E12S on Echo and then my 1st un-synced Savage fights P1S to P8S. I finished every Extreme except 1 SHB extreme I believe. I think its laziness. Haven't done a single Ultimate. Finished most Yellow Quests in every map except every Job quest-line aside from Samurai. Incl. haven't touched Blumage content. Done all Sightseeing. Nvr done Maps, never fished anywhere except for Ocean fishing to level it. All my Crafters and Gathers are Lv90. Triple Triad at 350 cards but I still don't have the Card mount. Finished Bozja. Owns a small and large house. Island Sanctuary nearly max rank. 1 Lvl away to max my Chocobo.

I did feel like i missed out on a lot of un-synced raiding? but that's on me for starting the game so late. Crafting and Gathering even though its all Lv90 I am not interested in so I never touched a collectable, I just leveled it all to be able to self repair. Ultimate seems to stressful and time consuming so I steer away from it. I only liked Samurai after trying most jobs on my 1st account so that's the only one that's really leveled. I don't enjoy Eureka as much as I did Bozja, but I would do it for the cards. I am also not much of a mount collector either I just want certain mounts but not every mount. I have also not really finished every beast-tribe unless it has furniture that interests me.

I am just interested in Savage Raiding, helping PF parties clear fights, Housing and mainly Samurai while having fun times with friends. I was definitely more passionate and interested in completing everything the game has to offer,... that was until they took away my Kaiten and ignored our player feedback. After that? I just started skipping cutscenes and not caring for anything honestly and playing other games unless my friends want to play on FFXIV.

The problem is, video games were made to be fun. Doing the latest dungeon or raid is fun for many, as well as treasure maps or crafting. But the content we get is as wide as an ocean and deep as a puddle. Dungeons are hallways. Raids are choreographed with no variation. Crafting is just spamming macros and selling on the marketboard. There’s a reason why people play other games during the off-season: because those other games are fun. Our combat has been casualized and the midcore content has evaporated, leaving little for a majority of FFXIV players.

And yet, we’re still pressured into playing. “You haven’t done everything, have you?” Or, better yet, “why do you still play WoW? FFXIV is way better!” and “millions of people LOVE FFXIV as-is!”

Those other droughts in FFXIV history happened when our game wasn’t desperate to be the #1 MMO in people’s lives. We didn’t pay for ads out of our own pockets to convince people to switch to our game. We didn’t harass streamers who switched back to WoW. Anyone with any sensible criticism about the game is treated like Aveyond and tossed aside, or worse, reported and harassed.

The FFXIV community is far too self-important for the drab content the game offers. FFXIV is fun for perhaps a week or two after a patch, and that’s it. Afterwards, the game is only useful to play around with mods—which, to be fair, is a pretty big selling point these days. Second Life is too complicated to learn, so FFXIV hits the spot. And I’m sure you’ve all read on these forums that, if Yoshida banned all mods, some percentage (most I’ve seen thrown around is “40%”) will stop playing. It’s either that or play other games. FFXIV just isn’t that hot otherwise.

This game is Final Fantasy.
80% of the drive is the story. So while "all fights are basically the same" might have some degree of truth to it, they're also all different fights as far as the story goes.
Just because I've played through Eden, doesn't mean I have no reason to play through Coils, Alexander, Omega and Pandaemonium too.

Also, Yoshida did ban all mods, they've always been banned. Some players are just confident they won't be caught, regardless of how well placed that confidence is.

I've done that vast majority of what I've wanted to get done. Somethings I still need to finish off(like the Extreme mount farming from ShB and EW...haven't even finished all the EX fights for either expac), while there are others(Savage/Ultimate) that I have almost no interest in - aside from getting the mounts from them and potentially some of the glamour, but not wanting to really do the fights.

The only thing I really want to do, but whenever I try I realize how much I need to relearn it/find people to do it with is finishing off my Eureka weapons. All but two of them are at Pyros, the last two are at Hydatos/Baldesian Arsenal steps.

I’ve done 91% of achievements and some stuff is just a mega grind with no thought to it. Such as leve quests achievements taking 7 year and 6 months or regen to complete. Daily quests if you actually get into them for X achievements are also a drag. Such as grand company hand-ins.

After nine years of no enforcement, tens of millions of plug-in downloads, 20,000 people logged in to Mare, and FFXIV becoming more and more associated with being “that game with the mods”, I think we can safely say our confidence is very well-placed.

Feel like "completed" is a bit more subjective than it might first seem.

I'd say I've "completed" the gathering game. I've got some decent endgame gear, I've finished most of the logs, I've spent a good amount of time in the Diadem and have the dragonsong relics, I use it fairly frequently to gather mats for making money

Have I got 100% of the achievements? No
Have I seen everything it has to offer? Yes

I wouldn't consider hitting rocks in the the Shroud 50,000 times or whatever to be "content" necessarily.
