Penalty Countdown for Leaving Match

Ok I know what a lot of people will think when they read that subject but hear me out.

I was playing Frontline, heard a crash in the other room, saw my cat had knocked over and broken something in the kitchen. At that point I had a choice. Go clean up broken glass while I AFK in PvP, or just abandon the duty and take care of it because, you know, there's broken glass on the floor. Takes about 5-10 minutes to clean it all up (long enough that I would have been AFK booted from the PvP match anyway), get back to computer, now I can't do ANYTHING with the duty finder for 20 more minutes.

I wish there was a cooldown period, or an escalating penalty for repeat offenders. I understand the purpose of the penalty, but it sucked to just kinda have to find something else to do (like make a post on the forums about it) while I waited.

Or maybe my situation is just rare enough that it's not worth building a system around occasional incidents like that. I'm just grumpy that I'm losing some time out of my already limited play time because my cat is a moron. :p

Don't worry, it applies to people who've also had something like DirectX crash when queue's been accepted too. It's an obscene penalty, but you know, one size fits all solutions are like that. If you can still queue for other things in that time, is all I can really suggest.

its only a thing because too many people complained.

There is no right answer to this, because as soon as you remove it or revert to the 3 strikes system that you have during queues, then you'll have a lot of players abusing it immediately and leaving as soon as they're not happy with what they see, until they know they have only one strike remaining.

You're right. I had a guy give up at the halfway point the other day after spamming us with quick chat and start spamming dance emotes in the spawn. He did this all three matches I got paired with him then after we killed him like 6 times the match after those, he did the same thing to that team. Long short of it: people suck.
