"Instant" Portraits

I noticed a significant amount of confusion with what the meaning / function of the "instant portrait" feature was. If I understand correctly, it means that the portrait will be used in Duties etc as part of the new display. Wouldn't that be an "Instance" portrait, not "Instant"?

Instance would indicate it's used in specific loaded scenarios. Is this a translation error?

"Instant" because as soon as you touch anything or even sneeze, they go back to their default state and you need to instantly replace them.
