PLD and WAR shut out for the second Ultimate in a row

Like the title says. All the serious parties working in Omega are running DRK/GNB because Square Enix has failed to address the problems that plague Paladin and Warrior. While they cheated on mechanics, we can also see from that the first group that cleared the DPS checks that they ran DRK/GNB.


This is an especially egregious mistake for PLD which was so badly excluded from parties through patch 6.28 it had to be completely reworked just to again be locked out of content, but maybe it's more insulting for WAR where the problem isn't even acknowledged.

Enough is enough, this needs to be fixed. Patch 6.31 should never have launched without major buffs to WAR and PLD potencies, but it's better late than never. An emergency patch should be applied like they did with SCH back in the day, the situation is frankly worse now than it was then.

they are not locked out,just because world first chose to use GNB/DRK doesn't mean WAR/PLD can't clear it aswell

WAR and PLD just don't offer damage compared to GNB/DRK, especially a DRK/GNB pairing. And until players that're going to get through it get more familiar and accustomed to the fight, wanting to maximize damage to get through DPS checks would matter more than a little bit of survivability IMO. This isnt like Savage prog where that extra mit can help push through deaths. Unless the veil/shake support can let a healer get away with less GCD healing / healing resources being spent and instead go into more damage spells, there's really no difference whether it's there or not if a single death is a wipe regardless of what tank kits are brought into the fight.

Most of the groups I've been watching have at least a warrior or paladin in the group. Have they cleared yet? No. However, they're not wiping to DPS checks, they're wiping to mechanics.

It's not worse than DSR where paladins didn't even have the defensive cooldowns to survive.

I see plenty of groups having a PLD or WAR in the group.
Not both at the same time, but that makes sense due to the defensive group CDs.

I mean I'm hoping for buffs for both really (I personally want more adjustments in 6.4 for PLD as the current version is good but still really clunky and rushed imo), but I've seen both perform alright, it's not like they need to be locked out because having one of them will lock u out of any checks.

Both have defensive advantages, its fine for them to slightly be behind, I personally think slightly adjusting dps to bit slightly higher should be one direction, another direction would be slightly more Defensive buffs to both, to make them really stand out as "safety progression tanks" (Especially pld needs their utility more useable in more situations).

I think it's too early to make these kinds of pronouncements.

The issues with, for example, PLD in DSR remained a problem perpetually, long after the initial clears.

But initial clears get... weird, and sometimes the decisions are really just entirely whimsical (like UCOB and DRK) and not tied to any big overriding meta-related strategy.

It's probably best to wait until a larger set of data comes in before pointing to this as a problem one way or the other. I'm not trying to argue whether you are correct or incorrect, just saying that I don't think there's yet enough information to make this kind of assessment.

All jobs in the game are capable of clearing the content.

We don't have enough clears to get consistent results.
But if it can be of any interest to you, WAR is a very good tank in P1 and it still has the best cooldowns.

Yes the DPS checks are quite harder than DSR/TEA, but let's give it some times.

People couldn't figure how to pass phase 3/4 but many teams are consistently reaching the required DPS.
And for some, destroying phase 4 DPS check.
