Glitches after update

Hello, ever since the 1.22 update I can log into the game, connect to the server and appear in the Adventurer's Guild in Limsa, but it never loads other players and I cannot even leave the guild(The Mini map shows it as cut off from the outside). Also, "sometimes" I can open the main menu, sometimes I cannot and the navigational keys (wsad) are tempermental- Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. It is very frustrating because now I am trapped in the Adventurers Guild and cannot execute any simple proceedures- not even teleport. One last thing.. I had fixed the Directx error message I was recieving when I first bought the game- no problems since then.. But, since the update, it will sometimes pop up again now. I tried reinstalling, to no avail.. Help!! :(

EDIT: OH, I just remembered.. I JUST did an important Windows Update.. Maybe that is related?

1.22 does bomb a lot but I never had as much trouble as you are describing. You might solve the problem by reloading the game from scratch.

I was hoping that wasn't the solution, but I think you may be right. :\ Hmm, I will troubleshoot a little more, but if all else fails, definitely will be reinstalling.

Sorry for the double post, but just wanted to state that I got rid of Google Chrome and started using K-Meleon and it ate way less Ram, allowing FF to work. Weird that running Chrome and FF simultaneously never was a problem in the past.. FFXIV seems to be running fine for the moment.
