6.1-3 side story should be part of MSQ

The side story of the little voidsent trying to find all it's parts really should be part of the MSQ. Especially in 6.3's Rubicante's section which was the hardest hitting part of that otherwise MSQ light patch. Imagine the mindset of ppl who do the MSQ but skip those lore story bits compared to those who go thru that storyline.

There's no need to enforce it. People who care about lore will seek it out; people who don't care will skip the cutscenes in the sidequest anyway, and it would slow down the pace of the main story – especially for those who come later or are replaying on alts.

I also don't see that much value in knowing the archfiends' stories immediately. They are already dead and the little bit of insight into their past isn't anything we need to know for the next step of the main story. It explains the motivations of characters we faced in the past, not the future.

I also just don't find most of them particularly engaging. With the exception of Rubicante, it was just an extra round of "these are not particularly nice people", and for Rubicante an extra round of "he was good and noble, but you knew that already".

It's background info on characters that were around for a couple quests at most in the main story (and as Iscah pointed out, not especially game-changing story), with no gameplay involved. This is basically what sidequests are for; it's nice-to-knows that aren't integral to the main story.

I agree with this.
Patch content is already very story heavy, particularly for those catching up. Side-lining this sort of additional story content is the best of both worlds. Those who want it can take it all in live as bonus material, while those catching up later won't have to slog through a relentless marathon of cutscenes.

Wait it starts in 6.1 instead of 6.2?

It would be nice if some of the more elaborate side stories were more clearly flagged. Not everyone is going to diligently seek out and destroy every '!' on the map, and some of these unmarked quests are hidden gems. Perhaps just give them a new colour.

I can see why people would want that in the MSQ but I agree with Cleretic. Apart from that, I ~love~ to stumble over quests like that by accident. Makes me feel like I'm actually, y'know, adventuring. :)

While these are fun sidequests to do, it would be seen as bloat to some people. This is particularly true for those looking to raid, still want to understand the main points of the story, and are in catch up mode.

Lore stuff like that used to be included into the MSQ, but people complained about "fillery" quests so they split them off into side quests.
