Is it possible to lower footstep volume exclusively?

I'm being nitpicky here, but I can't stand the sound of the squeaky leather sound effects that emanate from movement during cutscenes, especially non-voiced ones. I'm trying my best to focus on the dialogue, while Sponge Bob is in the background squeaking about. Almost feels like ASMR and I hate it. It's not even a problem exclusive to this game. Most eastern games, more notably JRPGs, present this issue as a commonality, and I'm not even sure why. The sound of 'em boots ain't more important than what the character is trying to convey by means of lip flappin'. So help me, God.
