PLD: Why are Intervention and Holy Shelltron not just 1 button?

Cast on self or Cast on ally.

Gunbreakers have basically the EXACT SAME THING, but on one button instead of two seperate skills.

Button bloat pls Square Enix.

Would it not be easier to just combine and standardize the text?

The numbers are different, the condition on Intervention is different and the cooldowns are different. They are not meant to be the same button, even if they appear to be similar.

Heart of Corundum, Oblation and TBN are, on the other hand, the same effect.

I'd say the most egregious button isn't one PLD has. It's Bloodwhetting vs Nascent Flash.

I thought this was what was going to happen when they said abilities would be made like other tanks.

Oh, definitely.

But what I mean is

"Maybe the fact that there are so many differences, even if minute, is because the devs intend for PLD to have two different skills. One being their own personal mitigation, the other being support. And at some point, after so many buffs and rebalances they sort of got it too close to other skills, when that wasn't the intended purpose."

It's kind of (in a nutshell, bc I know I'll offend someone with this) why the devs haven't fused Orogeny with TBN when other tanks only have one button to more or less achieve what those two would together.

And that the egregious case of Warrior having literally the same button is meant to show you that maybe that was the case. Maybe Intervention and Holy Sheltron were meant and are meant to be considered as two different skills that just happen to coincide. As we do have a case where two skills could be melded specifically because SE does believe they are the same thing.

I know it's verbose, but TLDR? I was giving you a "why this is the case", and also why you may or may not see those skills be fused together.

Because otherwise I agree with you, they ARE really similar, and the differences are very minor. So if more people agree with that reading, that those are the same button, then EITHER:
1 - Their effect will be fused like what you wrote
2 - Their effects will be the same, but they'll do what they did on WAR's cooldown.
Why would they do #2 and even allow WAR to have those skills separate when DRK and GNB aren't doing that is beyond me ewe;; and yeah, that DOES contribute to button-bloat.

Intervention has its own separate use that I REALLY don't want sharing cooldown with sheltron for.

That's a good point but do those buttons need a real cooldown at all? They are already on a sort of cooldown through oath gage.

This basically, when was the last time somebody actually NEEDED intervention and shelltron at the same time.

Tanks certainly dont need the extra MIT, and if a DPS is getting smacked by something that will actually kill them, then they messed up and its kinda their own fault XD

I've seen tanks drop from tbs in p8s with multiple cds up. Not sure I agree with that statement lol.
