The Whorl and Oschon

Just got EE for Christmas (Happy Holidays everyone) and I am falling down a rabbit hole. Most of the 12 came directly from or descended from gods who came from the Whorl. Does anyone have any information on where Oschon came from/why he didn't come from the Whorl? Or what the Whorl is or where it leads?

Fairly new to diving this deep into lore and looking for leads to explore as we approach our new raid wing!

Yeah, the Whorl is essentially FFXIV's equivalent of the Primordial Chaos in Greek myth or 'in the beginning there was nothing' in Genesis. It's hard to tell how much of a 'thing' it's supposed to be, or even if it's real. Probably gonna learn that in the current alliance raid series, though.

I assumed that it was like a black whole, especially since Althyk created time a "weight" which I took to be gravity. My curiosity lies with the possibility of something beyond it the gods had to have emerged/stepped or crawled from somewhere, theological sources in game seem a bit lacking though.

I wonder if the Whorl is in fact the Lifestream, and the Twelve (or at least the original ones) are in fact the first beings to come out of it. That WOULD put them on a higher level than most other life, possibly with the knowledge that came from it. But then that brings the question, who is Oschon? If he wasn't from the Whorl, then where did he come from?

Any details we have of the Twelve (whether in-game or in outside material) are up for questioning. since they are merely myths. As of now, the appearances and some relationships hold close resemblance to the myths, but the finer details might be way way off.

Isn't the whorl believed to actually exist somewhere in the Northern Empty as opposed to being purely mythological?

I recall a passage in one of the lorebooks mentioning something about it at least.

they were put in place by Azem himself after finding out what the future holds from Venat in order to help protect the new inhabitants of the planet and save as many as they could before Calamities struck.

As we are witnessing the birth/creation of a star in Ultima Thule it is possible the Whorl is just the initial coalescing aether of a star. The gods may have been born of that, possibly kicked off by dynamis willing them into existence somehow. In which case Oschon could be a god that came from some other dead star and decided to set up shop here.
