A large portion of the playerbase is Japanese so of course there will be a lot of Japanese winners, there's no big conspiracy behind it.
yes, but that playerbase is eclipsed by both the north american and european playerbase. i don't think there is a conspiracy, i just think it's a funny coincidence. don't you?

Look at this: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/
Japan is the largest region.
Ever noticed how the art submitted by the Japanese players is really well drawn and has lots of Japanese text explaining it?

The NA entries oft look like they were done in crayon by a kindergartener. (not all, of course, but so many)

Japan only makes up 15%, 20% for Europe and 60% for America.
This website is so weird. Why is this table titled FFXIV players but the legend at the bottom talks about LoL? Why does it have so many ads? Why does it say it uses "various sources" but cites none of them? Genuinely. I feel like I wouldn't trust it personally, even assuming SQEX releases numbers internally and these are leaks.

I'm pretty sure it's also out of date. Since it still list PS3 support.
https://ffxivcensus.com/ is another example, JP doesn't have as large of a playerbase as the world status would have you believe
I don't know what that website is and I wouldn't trust it.
