Suggestion for future moogle tome events: sell dungeon gear!

The pattern for recent moogle tome events has been to sell gearsets that were produced from fan design contests, but this approach firstly has (if I am remembering right) now gone through all the competition gearsets, and secondly – and more importantly – often results in the "special prizes" actually being things that are easy enough to buy directly with other currency.

I think it would be really helpful if the events sold gear from the ex-endgame dungeons and alliance raids, since these remain purely RNG-reliant and frustrating to acquire.

We've had threads before discussing that they should be guaranteed drops per run like levelling dungeons, and I still think that would be the better approach, but if the dungeons are going to remain strictly RNG then it would be great to have the occasional chance to purchase them directly.

It would be so nice to have an accessible way to buy dungeon gear occasionally – or even just for the opportunity to browse it and try things on so people actually know what's out there.

I'd be all for having a way to get some of this gear through an alternate method, but the thrice a year event is not the way. :)

Well yes, I would certainly like more reliable and permanent ways of being able to get them.

But if we're not going to be given those ways, then they would certainly be an option for spicing up the increasingly "I've already got all of those things" list of event items.

The weathered versions of the Gerolt's Masterwork weapons would be another good thing they could throw in. They're awkward because they sit outside of the "only sell pre-upgraded versions of old sets" thing that's been introduced now, but they're visually unique because they lack the excessive glow of the upgraded versions. Unlike most things where upgrading just adds dyeability.

I still think any of this would be too much. This isn't supposed to be some crazy grindy farm fest, though some newer people might approach it that way. There are enough items for people to casually farm and some extra goodies for those that don't need any of it.

Dungeon gear can be the hardest to get of all glams so I think it would be perfect for a special event like this.

I vote let us buy PVP gear also.

I don't think dungeon glamour is supposed to be a crazy grindy farm fest either, but that's what we're stuck with for half the dungeons in the game, while the other half give us guaranteed drops so we have an upper limit to how many runs are needed.

If they aren't willing to update the 50/60/etc dungeons to give us guaranteed drops, then having them on sale from the moogle would be an opportunity to fill the gaps in our glamour collections where pieces just refuse to drop after umpteen runs.

I'm not arguing against that, only the idea that this rare event is supposed to be the place to get it.

I can't think of any reason to oppose this. Other than Shisui would no question be the first dungeon they use.
