Dueling Venues!

I've been traveling around Eorzea a lot these days in search of those orbs for my Sight Seeing log.

And I see in many places often not far out of the way just large blank flat platforms with nothing else around them not even mobs and it reminded me about the PVP dueling platform we have in wolves' den.

It got me thinking that it would be fantastic if you could travel to these places or even queue up instances of a dueling arena in different locales, not unlike a fighting game.

That and other special areas like Rhalger's hand or the Coliseum be cool... or heck even boss platforms I'd think be neat (but that's sort of if you went the instanced route)

I assume a technical hurdle is that the game itself designates areas as either PvE or PvP and will swap your skills accordingly and you couldn't for example make a small space in that zone that would break those rules...

But I think the concept be good for a bit of one on one.

Other possible objections might be about job imbalance... which I am welcome to listen to.

I think this would however offer a space for those who want to do one-on-one combat or practice in other areas of the world (if implemented)

What do you PvPers think?

I think the idea is fun, but that duels on different jobs will be an exercise in utter frustration. Some jobs are so much better at dueling than others that many matchups would be a foregone conclusion.

Honestly balancing around 1v1 realistically wont happen if you balance around 5v5. I think it is perfectly normal that certain jobs outclass others in dueling / 1v1ing as that is part of their strength in 5v5, namely the ability to pick their fights.

With very few exceptions and arguably limitations what can be done, most jobs are fairly good in 1v1s. Currently the following issues may occur:

Too little damage (unless maybe with LB):
- Paladin
- Warrior
- Dancer (only a tiny bit)
- Scholar (I am not 100% certain by how much, I'm gonna test that later)

Too much healing power:
- White Mage
- Astrologian

Jobs with too little damage may receive a duel damage buff (around 10-15%)
Jobs with too much healing may receive a healing down debuff (around 10-20%)

Special case is Ninja who can currently use his Three Mudra defensively or offensively. Defensives (Huton, Meisui) are usually used to extend their longevity until Limit Break, to which I'm unsure if this is a good thing or not. It will require a lot of trigger discipline to fight them in a 1v1.

dueling itself is pretty goofy at the best of times with balance as it is rn cause some jobs are just clearly better at others for dueling. but if there were dueling specific adjustments this would be really fun.

Would love for PvP to be a toggle in player houses, and also the Island Sanctuary.

Imagine the community pvp events that could be had. Sounds great to be honest. It made me laugh too. xD
