FF14 Login Warning to Not Lose Your Real Llife is Ironic

I find this very ironic considering the massive amount of time sinks with ifrit drop rates, ridiculous process for artifact weapons and the blind luck involved, etc.

I'd like to just open up a dialogue on more productive ways the game can be challenging and fun but not a huge time sink....

If they opt to put a warning like this before we log in then why does anything in the game worth doing waste so much time on blind luck? It's simply redundant the way the game is built right now and doesn't reward skill or hard work.

People seem to think that I am to blame, and everyone who agrees with me, because we can opt out of playing the game and don't have to spend hours upon hours of gameplay.

These assumptions are hilarious. This is not a "QQ lolz plz make game easier for me i dun wanna work hard =DDDD" thread.

The point is this: to get something done of meaning in this game and progress it should take effort and hard work over a pretty good amount of time BUUUUUUUT effort shouldn't be foiled by random drops, blind luck, and essentially devices to prolong the game just because.

If someone has killed ifrit 50+ times and gotten NO weapons something is wrong with that.

I myself try to make a point to make sure I don't overplay the game, but it would be nice to feel like every time we get on and do spend a good amount of time that it actually mattered and helped us progress.

It's just a disclaimer, blah blah blah.

They should probably make drop rates 100% so we only have to log in 1 hour per week. Then we wouldn't have this terrible problem of us wasting our lives away on this.

Most online games have the same warning at the start as a sort of "we told you so" defense when they are sued for "ruining lives" with their random drops, huge timesinks, and other things. Seldom works as a defense, though. The truth is, if they didn't take up gamers' time, we'd probably be in Vegas at the slots or in our backyard with some enemies playing russian roulette.

They sure don't force you to do any content in this game more than 1 time per day tho.

It could be worse. I played a couple of other online games and after 2 hours they say in game chat "You have been playing 2 hours. Please take a break."

I look at it this way, and this is after playing XI for 8 years lol, it's there to remind you that there are other things in your life besides the game. This is my own personal view of it though lol.
