Cross-DC Duty Finder - A solution to long queues

there's been a lot of very long queues as of late for certain raids, especially endwalker raids. even if you're healer/tank

This should solve that problem and make it not just possible but common for people to find groups even at odd hours of the night

I don't really see any drawbacks and I also see nothing but benefits, what do you guys think

More seriously, I think many would love it, but I'm guessing there could be system limitations. We know the DC travel system works by making a copy of your entire character to the destination DC, then copying it all back at the end. Which sounds like a hack that isn't conducive to shared queues - the alliance would be formed and everyone have to sit tight while all the characters were gathered up and transferred around. On raid-day-1, what happens if the queue for that is long? Would people get bored of waiting for the copies, and log?

However, if SE can solve it, for sure.

It doesn't particularly work like this because I can only assume of how data is stored. It's similar to why you can't access information of someone in another DC or start a cross-DC party. Not to mention any latency you may experience trying to coordinate people in different parts of the world together.

For something like this to be doable, they probably have to keep all information stored in the same location without having stuff be overwritten, which is ultimately just a relocation of your data with everyone else. It's similar to how DC travel works and queueing up into a Duty Finder on another DC.

I mean, it probably could be doable, but if there's large groups trying to hop onto another server, just relocating data (DC-travel) will take along time to buffer. Which would not work very well once you factor the large number of players utilizing Cross-DC Duty Finder. It's more probable to just ask people to hop into a specialized DC for this, and then join the DF.

Obviously, you are never going to get masses of people in PF in the dead of night. I mean, there is like 2 groups total after a certain hour on the Light DC. How many groups would there be if it combined with the other EU DC? 4, maybe 5.

I have never, ever had an issue finding matched content (barring Frontlines) at any hour of the day. I can't see it being a massive problem.

The content must take place on one of those data centers.

So let's say you have people in Japan on a JP data center being matched into a duty with people from NA on a NA data center.

SE will have to decide which data center the duty takes place on.

If it takes place on the JP data center, NA person's ping suffers. If it takes place on the NA data center, JP person's ping suffers.

I have no issues finding dungeons and groups at 2/3am weekdays on the European servers.
