An otpion to turn on helmet during some helmet-removing cutscenes?

I love my Tamamo ears and it is part of how I see my character with. However, SE wants emotional cutscenes to be without helmet for the sake of showing WoL's facial expression and prevent weird situations with someone who like to don a rabbit/toad/moogle head



The thing is, I don't see the point. You let everyone come into the cutscenes with whatever outfits of choice, from lore-appropriate gear to immersion-breaking skimpy bikini, or even as naked as far as Gobbert can approve. Why suddenly having helmet removed so important that you have to force it on players? Even if you remove a toad head, you can still see the toad costume.


IMO, this is a shouldn't, and even if SE insists, they should still offer an option for people who think otherwise.

Yeah that would be nice, i wear an eyepatch because i RP that my character needs it, otherwise i wouldn't wear one at all.
So i really don't like when i'm suddenly not wearing it for whatever reasons.

The only one I can remember offhand is when Haurchefant dies. But I tend to not wear helmets much anyway, so there are probably more I forget about.

I know its just a minor thing because it does not happen often but I agree with you OP. The headgear I wear most of the time is a second pair of horns. And everytime they force to take the helmet of I cant stop laughing because I imagine how some NPCs come over to plug them from my characters head.

I get why SE does it, I really do but they really should let the players decide if they want to wear one or not. After all we are allowed to wear a full elephant costume in any kind of scene so why would it matter for someone that choose to wear that if they are that way in all of them.

Another one is in Sharlayan when we have that discussion. They even took away Kriles hood for that.

When Fake Zenos beats you at the end of Stormblood, you awake in Ishgard and they remove your headgear.
Made sense in the context for most gears, i'll give them that.

I support this. So often my character is showing facial expressions I do not agree with.

Unfortunately you lose me with this statement. It contradicts the previous. You DO see the point, whether you want to accept it or not. The devs automatically remove the headgear for particularly poignant scenes during the MSQ, and you recognize that. Unfortunately, you can still get away with a toad costume or whatever because if they did the same thing with your gear, then you would just be naked (as close to as default CC goes anyway) in the scenes. This issue does not exist for the head slot, and this should not have to be spelled out to you.

The problem is not a deliberate jab to remove the identity you've established for your character. It's old code, and it's an old game. I agree it would be a nice option to allow players to choose, but there are much bigger fish to fry such as completing the CCs for Viera and Hrothgar.
