Why does everyone use PF as a representation of the game?

There's a shortage of healers... in PF only.
week 1 hardcore statics had no problem finding healers
casual statics don't have problems finding healers
midcore statics don't have trouble finding healers.

Some jobs are being excluded from high end raiding... in PF only
week 1 hardcore statics don't exclude jobs
casual statics sure as hell don't exclude jobs
you will always find a midcore static recruiting your job

The DPS check for p8sp1 was too tight... for PF only
week 1 hardcore statics had no problem clearing with any job composition
casual statics don't care about week 1 clearing
midcore statics also don't care about week 1 clearing

It feels to me like people just use PF as a reflection of the state of the balance of the game, when in reality PF is maybe 0.01% of the entire raiding playerbase.

And the worst part is that the developers are catering to PF by making balance decision aimed directly at helping PF clear.

Because PF is how the majority of people interested in some form of high-end content get their fix. Work schedules are rough, and herding a whole bunch of cats together is made all the more difficult by this fact. People can't just pull statics out of their behinds, and the increased number of players uninterested in socializing with others makes it so many of them wouldn't want a static even if they could get one. Then, on top of all that, those looking for one often find it can surprisingly difficult to find a static that fits in terms of skill level and personalities.

I mean, the weaker jobs are being excluded for the top tier statics as well and have the lowest number of clears on the log website. I wouldn't say PF is a "representation" of the game, but the large majority of people doing end game are pugging them through PF. Hardcore/midcore statics are the minority.

that's not true, week 1, day 1 and world first statics had MCH RDM RPR PLD and WAR in them

And how many of those MCH and RPR cleared week 1? The issue was not in PF only.

Oh how I wish this were true. A lot of us want to stop healing but are stuck because it's a healer desert out there. Even if a dps spot opens in our statics, it's such a hassle to find a healer that we don't bother. Just raidlog on healer and play anything else in our free time.

And I'm pretty sure many a week 1 statics adapted to meta. Being flexible with the jobs in your role is actually a requirement for a lot of these groups. It usually goes: Try to go as meta as possible for the initial clears just to get it out of the way and put the odds in your favor. If some people don't want to it's not a big deal as long as they perform well on said role (can optimize really well in a fast prog setting). If there's a really hard DPS check on the last floor, people who aren't meta might consider going meta to get the clear over with. Finally, if a weapon drops in your role, you'll usually swap to that job for a few reclears. After a few reclears play whatever you want.

Let's stop there. Streamer statics are naturally hardcore a lot of the time because they get paid to play the game by their viewers and there was at least some trouble with composition there.

Not true, but even if it was, that number is tripled by other jobs. There's barely 5k clears uploaded for MCH on fflogs and like nearly 20k for samurai.

I don't know what point you're trying to make, but PF's are not the minority and MCH's are in a horrible spot right now.
