Hot Take On Current "Windows"

Not every single class needs to be on a 2 Min. Plain and simple. Not only that, but classes shouldn't be dumbed down to a degree that people go from learning an opener like old SMN to how SMN is now.

This came with the news that PLD is being reworked from a "Sustained" to fit in the current "2 Minute" frame. Why do they feel that every class has to fit within this instead of how it used to be? I feel it takes even more variety away from the classes. Like, if I wanted to play a 2 minute window class, i'd play that. If I wanna play a Sustained, i'll choose that.

And that's not even touching on the "Balance" issues this tier and what went on with 8 (ongoing it seems)

I didn't enjoy feeling like my abilities were trash outside burst windows in WoW.
I hope FF isn't going down that same path.

Bard is the worst of the 2min window gameplay. It's taken it to the max. Each song has to be played every 120s in a certain order and that's the whole class. it doesn't feel organically fun.
I feel like i have no expectations for the jobs at this point. The combat is just hack and slash anyways.

I personally prefer new Summoner as it better fits with the job's class fantasy feel than from what it was prior. Besides since it's a whole new class in of itself this means we have the base to built up on it in future expansions.

I think old Summoner needs to come back as an entirely new class like Green Mage or something though.

They have already done that. Every job that isn't able to pump all of their damage into a 15 second window every 2 minutes is underperforming.

I wouldn't even call this a hot take, the 2 minute burst meta restricts job design, clearly shows us the imbalances between jobs and exarcerbates them, makes the problem of potency bloat and crit rng worse than ever before, is incredibly punishing when you miss a burst window, just flat out punishes sustain dps jobs in general and is incredibly boring gameplay-wise.


It needs to go.

Windows 11 is better than what you may think

I don't think that burst windows are as much of a design choice as they are an accommodation. IIRC, raid teams came up with the idea to stack buffs together using certain classes and so others were adjusted to compensate with an aim to dilute the meta and be inclusive. It won't matter how they design classes in that respect, the community will find a way to optimize the new design and it will filter to the masses, whether or not it is technically good for them.

They should just straight up delete or make most buffs personal and up the Job DPS to be more in-line with each other.

Well one of the biggest reason i see is because players complain the this class is no good because they do slightly less damage then that one or have slightly less survivability then this class. Easiest way to to get the jobs balanced is to make them play similarly. Personally i agree with you in liking classes playing different because honestly i dont feel the balance is that bad.
