PS4 Data
Today my PS4 started to feel funny and decided to not work properly and well... Short story: I think I have to "Initialize PS4", which I think it erases all data on it... :(
My question is this... ¿What would happen with FFXIV? I know there's a System Data and Character Data saved in here. ¿Will I lose all? ¿All these 8/9 years of "work" will be erased?
I know it will be erased anyway the (I hope far) day FFXIV closes but... I want to know.

If you upload your character data via the tool on the character selection screen and then download it once the initialization is complete it will be for the most part like nothing happened. All your gear sets , macro's etc will be there, hotbars too. Some of the character and system settings are lost and will need to be reset as you had them. We just had to do this with my partners PS4 Pro about a month ago. I'm on PC so I can't give exact directions on the process but I do know it works (I save my stuff locally and have never used the provided tool).
(edit for spelling because macOS autocorrect can only reliably capitalize the last two letters of macOS, otherwise it thinks macro's are actually taco's)
(edit again, hotbars are either haters or hotbeds, wtf is a hotbed apple?)

you won't lose anything, all your character data is saved in an OS database
You'll just have to re-install the game and that's it

Good to know. Seriously, I had save data from other games as well, but losing FFXIV's... I think that would be the worst for me.

All data will remain except hotbars, HUD layout, keybinds, graphics and sound settings, display settings such as battle effects, target rings and name colors. You can preserve these as well by going to the character selection screen and using the backup feature on your character.
Important data such as achievements, mounts, minions, items and quest progression is saved on the server.
