Client crash when trying to connect to Light DC after DC travel

Greetings! I'm experiencing a bug that makes my client crash and prevents me from picking my character.

My main character is Petiroi Magiroi on Moogle (Chaos).
I used the Datacenter Travel feature with him to visit Zodiark (Light) and all was well.
Wanting to go back to my world, Moogle, I closed the game.

But now, after I log in, the client shows a 2002 error and crash when I try to connect to the Light DC! I can't use my character anymore.

Notes that may help troubleshooting this:

• I tried connecting to Primal and Crystal, where I have 0 character. That worked.
• I already had a lv1 character on Zodiark with the same name as my main character. I made it after the EU Datacenter was split in two.
• My main character lives on Moogle, but was originally from Zodiark before the DC split.
• I'm on PC, using the FFXIV Client. Not Steam.

I wonder if the issue is that there are now 2 characters with the same name on Zodiark, even though one is only a visitor from Moogle. I'm willing to delete the lv1 character if that would solve the issue, but I can't find how to do it outside of the game client.

EDIT
Having both characters with the same name should not be an issue because the following worked:

• Created a character named "Test Damnit" on Diabolos (Crystal).
• Created another character named "Test Damnit" on Behemoth (Primal).
• Sent the Diabolos character traveling to Behemoth.
• It worked. I could pick the character I wanted and even make it travel back to Diabolos. This is a step I still can't reach with my main character, Petiroi Magiroi.

Please help me put my main character back in his home world so I can keep playing.

I tried again a couple hours later. It still fails BUT I managed to connect to the Light DC using a VPN.
From there, I could make my character travel back to Moogle and now at least I can keep playing.

Does anyone know how can I fix my connection to Light DC without resorting to a VPN to make it work? Cheers!
