You should be able to target a party member with Radiant Aegis on SMN.

As the title says i believe this will add to the smn's raid utility, even if its a little.

Gives you the choice to help a team member or yourself and it adds a small extra layer to smn imo.

Since the carb is only used to summon the bigger guys i think this may help it feel useful.

This just makes it even more annoying because the rat dies for half you rotation. Everyone loves to parrot the godawful "just use it earlier" argument as if you always have 100% foresight for every scenario in every pull, but even then you still at least have some idea of when you will take damage. You have 0 clue when someone else is going to take damage unless its astoundingly obvious. The times when you need to be able to shield someone else are completely random and you will constantly run afoul of the rat being dead preventing you from being able to cast the shield on the person that needs it.

If anything this just goes to show the rat shouldn't be casting the shield in the first place. Get it rid of it like they got rid of searing light and just let the Summoner use it whenever they want.

They should just detach the spell from the Carby already, like the did with Searing Light, so there's precedent to it.

I can plan ahead when an AoE will come and use the shield accordingly... But I don't think that's the best use of that shield. Planned AoE healing (for most part) is already covered a lot by the healers' excessive kits.

I want Radiant Aegis available when I mess up To me, at least, that's the purpose of such spell, much like is for Manaward, En Avant, Curing Waltz, etc - none of those are needed in situatios that are under control, but they are nice to have in hand just in case. Alas, the carbuncle constantly phasing out makes RA an unreliable utility, which defeats the point to begin with.

In fact, about the pet itself, it's on a miserable state. They should defnitely approach it with one of those options:

a) Give an instant cast ranged attack, so to mirror what Eos does with Embrace, but damage. It would be such a tiny portion of damage, but at the very least it would be visually engaging to see your pet actually doing something. Kind of sad that Urianger's carby (while on DPS mode for EW Trial 2) and Alphy's while on DPS mode for the HW Duty Support, will do something like that.

b) After taking RA from it, make the Summon Carbuncle a cosmetic, optional spell. If is just for the sake of being there shaking its behind, I'd rather not have it summoned on combat.
