It is not possible to play without doing dps as healer? every day i find someone...

Hello. I returned to the game with Endwalker a few months ago.

starting a few days ago to heal after using the Trust system to do the dungeons as a summoner so as not to bother anyone.

But every day I usually find people who complain that why I play this mmo if I don't play x, because I've always liked to play dedicating myself to my role and the scholar has countless skills that I haven't been able to adapt quite well, for what I have put in keyblind those of heal and sup to be able to do my job well.

A few years ago, in an accident, my left arm ended up damaged and the right one was broken, so I have access without problem to numbers from 1 to 5/6. And z / alt shift and ctr + numbers or some letter.

Today while I was in a dungeon they have complained to me that if I could hit, when answering that they have not complained that they always get "dumb heals".
They have even told me that I am in the wrong game and all I have done is dedicate myself as well as I can to my work.
Has someone ever died, things that happen and I'm not the best at playing but I know I have to heal and I always try to do it as well as I can.

The issue is that I don't understand why I should do dps if I don't have the game well prepared and also I don't feel comfortable playing as everyone wants. Is it really obligatory or so necessary to start doing dps without thinking that a bad moment can lower lives?
It's just that I don't understand it, many dungeons and raids nobody complains, but every day I find a group that tries to tell me how I should play or that I'm not worth being in ffxiv.

Here's a tip:

Rather than claiming to be 'old school' or whatever other tripe you want to come out with on the day, why don't you simply point out that your arm injuries leave you uncomfortable/unable to deal with smashing broil/aow endlessly.

The vast majority of people will be perfectly happy with that response in casual content and leave it at that.

You're as guilty of causing that exchange as they are.

You really should be doing DPS. It'll help to get an MMO mouse if you have trouble accessing numbers outside a certain range, this way you'll only need to use alt/ctrl/shift and WASD/QEWASD (QE for strafing if you need to).

Trust me, doing DPS is a form of damage mitigation, it lets fights not drag on as long, and if you're not doing DPS then... what *are* you doing? Spamming heals? That's counterproductive.

I think that most parties you encounter will not and do not require continuous healing. There will be moments when you will be waiting for enough damage to be worth a heal. In those moments, cast Broil/Ruin/Art of War.

That is all that is being asked of you, to be doing something useful as much as you can.

If you are physically incapable of having enough key binds for 2 DPS skills, then explain that. Some people will still be jerks, but hopefully most will have some understanding.

I thought that being a personal problem, I don't think I should comment on it in a game.
Anyway, that's what I'll do if there's a problem and I'll try to follow your recommendations.

The problem anyway is that they don't stop eating the areas of the monsters in pulls or bosses and they don't dodge anything XD so many times it's not logical to heal there.
Anyway when I detect that I have a void and I rest I will try to start doing damage.

Really good savage players can clear most fights without ever casting a gcd heal so of course people running dungeons think that’s how you have to play the game. As you get more comfy with your ogcds you’ll naturally start dpsing more and weaving in mit/heals.

There are far more people who think “you can play however you want even if it’s an active hinderance” over people who attempt to emulate high level savage play in casual dungeons

Let’s not act like this is the high end communities fault

Did you try reading the thread?

The game is actually designed to have both healers and tanks contribute to overall DPS. That's not just a personal playstyle expectation that others are trying to force on you.

Healing obviously takes priority, but healers have an abundance of instant healing alongside tanks who can go awhile without needing a full heal. If you're not spending the extra time on assisting with DPS, it slows the whole pace of the content down. That affects your group and can understandably cause a negative reaction.

In most casual content, people probably won't say anything or they might just roll their eyes at it and move along. But if you choose not to DPS, you'll have to accept that there will be people that notice and sometimes there will be people that are vocal about it.

Even if a tank is eating literally every mechanics known to man, I'd still find it hard to believe you would need to dedicate the majority of GCDs to GCD Heals. Not with how slow the mechanics happen, esp. in normal content.
