Housing Lottery System Improvements
I think the lottery system can be further improved for housing. As it stands, it gets more and more demotivating for those that never seem to win in the lotteries, despite trying to enter one every 9 or so days since its inception.
I think it should give players an extra entry (cumulative) for every lottery they lose, to encourage them to keep trying and eventually they might end up lucky. Here is a hypothethical scenario.
Player enters 1st Lottery. Does not win. Gets +1 chance to next lottery.
Player enters 2nd Lottery. Counts as two entries. Does not win. Gets +1 chance to next entry.
Player enters 3rd lottery. Counts as 3 entries. Wins the lottery, resets to +0 chances.
If at that point they enter another lottery, it will count as 1 entry only (regardless of whether they claim the previous plot) to prevent farming of chances.
This means, players who potentially enter into many many lotteries will be "rewarded" in a way for their tenacity in trying for so many lotteries.
The first issue that I can think of is players "farming S plot entries" to lose many times, before sniping a L plot with their accumulated chances. But this can be remedied if we limit the +1 chances to the size of plot entered.
Meaning, if a player enters an S plot, their +1 chance only applies to future S plot lotteries. And so on for M and L plots.
I hope someone at SE/FFXIV considers it. :)
