Praetorium CS skipping by closing out client.

2. Relog back into the game while the cut scene is playing.
3. Start fight while the cut scene is playing.
4. Rest of the players join the fight after the cut scene ends.

This has been possible since the Paetorium revamp although now that the Moogle event is going it's been happening nearly every run. The tank will close their client and relog in and start the final fight ahead of everyone else. I've seen DPS do this as well.

Note: I have not personally done this. I have witnessed the end result of the boss as much as 20% down on health past the first mechanics by the time the cut scene ends.

I run Prae twice a day, sometimes three; haven't seen this yet.

Are you sure the other player(s) just didn't have their language option set to something other than English? The Japanese language setting makes some cutscenes a fair bit shorter; that is something I see people talking about all the time. If you're seeing them actually disconnect and come back, I guess that's not it though.

Regardless, you should test this and report back. I mean, you don't need to start the fight, just see if restarting your client actually lets you skip the cutscene. I would do it but, erm... your thread.

All cutscenes in the game can be skipped this way, by forcibly closing the client. This has been the case since forever.
Almost certainly not a bug as such, but intended behaviour that a few people are abusing.

Yeah i did test it myself and see how it can be misused. I am not sure how they could prove someone didn't D/C for reasons beyond their control, though.

An Alt-F4 looks just like a power outage, to SE anyway. And if a person did DC due to a power outage or internet hiccup, it's kind of debatable whether, upon returning and finding the boss available, pulling the boss is 'right' or 'wrong'. A social faux-pas, maybe, but actionable? I don't think so.

Being inconsiderate of other players really isn't against any rules. I mean, correct me if I am wrong. This game does have some idiosyncratic rules I might be unaware of.

It's not a bug as such, but it's exploiting the method that they use to lock people in place for cutscenes – which isn't actually locking in place at all, just starting the cutscene which you can't leave. Quitting the game and coming back in means that the game doesn't trigger the cutscene again.

So it's an exploit (which is against ToS), not intended design.

I personally don't see the point. Step away from the game for a few minutes instead of fiddling around with getting logged back in.

With the revamp the German dub now comes out before the English version on almost all Praetorium cutscenes. Especially for the first cutscene with Gaius. French also runs pretty fast. We don't get many people obviously using the Japanese dub. So while people may be cheesing it, it may also just be their language setting.

It's been possible to skip this ways since before the revamp and German cutscenes have been shorter since before the revamp. I ran the Roulette so often, I would know.
However, they're not short enough to drop down the boss so low so quickly, especially with the item level sync. Someone is abusing it then, and I would just report them and move on, similar to what I used to do about afk players in old Prae.

Japanese has also been shorter in a few cutscenes.
I remember when I was leveling dancer I'd basically solo the elevator fight only because he couldn't catch up to me and I could range attack. There was no exploit, I was simply the first one out by a significant time.

The Japanese voice acting for Gaius back in the day provided a good 15 seconds of "alone" time before the rest of the party showed up in the instance at that point. Rather than skipping the cut scene, I expect they're using a voice that is not English during the run.

Most people who serial run Prae have learnt from others that the French or Japanese Audio makes the exit from cutscenes quite a bit faster.

Disconnecting and reconnecting leaves a chat message. Next time you see people fighting when you exit the wordy, verbose, long, and lengthy English audio and others are already fighting, you can check if there are telltales of this in chatlog.
