[WAR] Making the Mastering the Beast trait available at level 50

Been playing with Warrior at lower levels again cause of the moogle event and doing the pulls for the adds in some content feels a little sad without being able to generate beast gauge with the AOE rotation.

Mastering the beast (level 74 trait): Increases Beast Gauge when landing Mythril Tempest combo.

Change - Making it available at 50 and changing Enhanced Shake It Off level unlock to 75 for consistency.

I played with Gunbreaker wich is able to get Cartridges with the AOE rotation at lower levels and by adding that to Warrior is good for the job philosophy being consistant throughout the whole game, since we have the Steel Cyclone to make use of the Beast Gauge. I believe its not a demerit not having at lower levels but, it is kinda sad cause doing the pulls in the Final Days and Smiletown it helps clearing the wave with the Gauge generation of the AOE combo, and adding that at lower levels theres dungeons there could be helpful to have the trait too.

This is not WAR exclusive problem, neither tank exclusive.

- PLD, the "magic tank", starts using spell in its rotation at 68, with mobility at 74
- DRK has TBN at 70 and until recently he used to have 2nd AoE combo at 70+
- BLM is regarded as "trash until max level"
- DNC gets DP at 60.
- WHM gets lilies at 52, but they're DPS loss up until 74
- Most non-tank jobs gets their AoE way too late

The list goes on. Only few classes have solid core at 50-60, and WAR is one of them. Hopefully 7.0 finally addresses this problem for every jobs.

I hope 7.0 each job gets streamlined for their basic needs. Especially at for lvl 50 content. There are too many jobs that feel absolutely terrible to play below a certain threshold. Particularly 60s

Can't disagree with that, there's a good 29 levels of Steel Cyclone being useless if Infuriate is on CD and you don't have leftover Beast Gauge from a previous fight

There's a balance concern there in that every tank (save DRK) has similar limitations until a similar level:

PLD doesn't get Holy Circle until level 72, and prior to that they have no AoE damage besides their basic combo, Circle of Scorn, and Fight or Flight to buff them.

GNB doesn't get Fated Circle until level 72, and prior to that they have no AoE damage besides their basic combo, Bow Shock, and No Mercy to buff them.

WAR doesn't get Mastering the Beast until level 74, and prior to that they have no AoE damage besides their basic combo, Infuriate-driven spenders, and Berserk/Inner Release to buff them.

DRK is the exception here, but up until the most recent update, they still didn't get Stalwart Soul until level 72 and Flood of Shadow at 74.


This is likely because every dungeon at level 70 or below was designed and balanced with pre-Shadowbringers systems in mind, where TP existed and the number of AoE GCDs were heavily constrained (even DRK could run dry in the time between Blood Price/Weapon). Unless they went through and scaled up the difficulty of every single dungeon from 1-70, I think it's hard to justify handing WAR their AoE gauge building trait at a lower level, especially when A) WAR is already the dungeon king from level 56 when they get Raw Intuition, and B) That would be blatantly unfair to Paladin and Gunbreaker who still have to wait until level 72 to actually get their hands on the skills that are meant to be equivalent to Mastering the Beast for those classes.

And honestly, DRK getting to play with their AoE toys at a lower level doesn't feel unfair, because there was an imbalance in defensive potency there to begin with; GNB gets both Aurora and Camouflage (a very strong dungeon cooldown) before level 50, WAR gets Thrill of Battle as a strong tertiary cooldown before level 50 and then becomes a dungeon god in Heavensward with Raw Intuition and Equilibrium, and even PLD gets access to Sheltron all the way down in ARR at level 35. DRK is missing a cooldown right from ARR, and all they really get defensively prior to 70 is the heal on Abyssal Drain. Letting them have the stronger and more active offensive kit in those lower level dungeons feels like a niche that they've earned, and probably shouldn't be stepped on by the other tanks.

This. IMO every job should have its main toolkit at 50 like warrior does. Warrior at 50 and 90 plays almost the same except at 90 your cooldowns are stronger and most of your skills upgrade. Berserk into inner release, inner beast into fell cleave, etc. Just QoL changes and certain cooldowns get stronger. This has got to be one of the largest turnoffs to new players. They play the game for 45 hours, beat ARR and they're pressing four buttons the whole time.

There is a big difference between playable and enjoyable. WHM is playable from 1-50 but that doesn't make it enjoyable to play. It is also easier to teach players to be better at their jobs when they have the major portions of their kits by level 50 and then use 50-cap to flesh out some abilities through traits or add in a few new abilities as you level to add onto the base kit. Looking at GNB and DRK, they don't get their short mitigation CD till late in the leveling process and I think it is a hindrance to teaching them how to utilize the skill to its potential vs something like PLD who learns their short CD at 35 and has all that extra time to learn how to use it.

Specifically for Warrior, you have basically useless skills in Steel Cyclone and Decimate that can only be used if you happen to have some Beast Gauge left over from a boss fight or Infuriate is off CD vs at 74 you can now actually use skills you gained at 45 and 60.

But what is destination? This is MMORPG, there is no "beating the game". For some people, leveling is just prerequisite to start journey at max level. For others, they set their goal on collecting everything in game, which might not even be possible.

Playable and enjoyable are completely different things. And it's definitely not enjoyable to play "magic tank" that can't even cast spells, or to play DPS but have lower damage than tank at lower levels, or to fish for Firestarter procs while having only ~200ms to react. These things are just simple flaws which should be ironed out.

Shouldn't the classes actually be fun to play?

One of the biggest reasons I can't enjoy paladin is how much of the content they don't get to gap close in.
