We will likely never know. But I have noticed the rather long delay in refresh when changing pages.
That seems to indicate the back-end isn't very efficiently designed; or is coded with safety checks to deal with 2 or more people in there at once; or there is a network throttle; or the daemon providing the data isn't threaded, or resourced, or duplicated sufficiently; or the database table behind it is running on an old 286 precariously balanced on top of a filing cabinet in Naoki's office; or they just havn't bothered to touch the code since 2011.

It's possible more items would increase the length of that page-change delay, whatever the reason behind it is.
