FC Chest Rework

Is there any reason why FC chests hold so little?

We can have 512 players in an FC, but we only have 5 FC Chest tabs at level 30, and each tab only has 50 spaces.

Can the rank 30 FC get a perk that increases FC chest space to at least 100 spaces per tab? I daresay it should be 200 spaces per tab for those FCs who do a lot of crafting and gathering. As it stands, I'm having to use 8 different retainers to hold items that I'd like to hold onto in case my FC members need something crafted.

We will likely never know. But I have noticed the rather long delay in refresh when changing pages.

That seems to indicate the back-end isn't very efficiently designed; or is coded with safety checks to deal with 2 or more people in there at once; or there is a network throttle; or the daemon providing the data isn't threaded, or resourced, or duplicated sufficiently; or the database table behind it is running on an old 286 precariously balanced on top of a filing cabinet in Naoki's office; or they just havn't bothered to touch the code since 2011.

It's possible more items would increase the length of that page-change delay, whatever the reason behind it is.

because most likely FC chest is meant to share items and things between the whole FC, not to use it as a private storage/trade(alt)/garbage dumpster, chest thing, its very rare to see a fc use its fc chest properly and not have everyone throw in whatever trash drop they can toss in to free up inventory slot

I think the load time has more to do with checking permissions and the tabs apparently operating independent of each other.

Frankly, if anyone fills this, they need to get more organized.

Yes, players (people in general) have a tendency to place less value on the things they have an abundance of. An FC chest with something like 500 slots per tab will see more and more of crap items placed in there. Things like niche mats, common minions, furnishings, low level pots, among other things that benefit absolutely no one. Let alone the FC as a whole. Anyone who has ever felt there is nothing but useless junk and/or one or two people in the FC use the chest as an extension of their personal inventory will only see this issue exacerbated with more slots in the FC chest.

Things like this are brought up during development, and while SE's foresight isn't exactly the best, something like "How many slots, and how many tabs do we give the FC chest?" is an unavoidable task. They give us so many, and the rest they really rely on the playerbase to manage themselves. They can't just stop adding new items, but they also can't just keep increasing inventory space as they do. Players and FC's need to determine what items have a value high enough to keep stock. Everything else is tossed. Every slot is extremely valuable.

I would like one tab large enough to hold one of each standard dye, yes, even if you can cheaply buy then from an NPC. It would make it so much easier to see of which dye we have enough and which dye could need a restock.

Also it would be nice if we could name the tabs. ("Workshop + GRDNG", "Free4All", "Raffles", etc)

We keep tab descriptions on our discord ><

I'd also like more items per tab, although I'd actually like more tabs in general. Right now we have empty tabs because we have them restricted to different ranks, but this means some tabs are quite empty as only need to hold a few items, where as others are bursting.

It probably wouldn't be popular with everyone, but personally if they can't give us more items, I'd prefer if they instead reallocated the existing spaces so it was across more tabs (so for example same amount of items over twice the tabs) then we could better use the space with the permissions per tab.

Renaming the tabs would also be very helpful too.

No one needs to keep that much dye ready. If anything, maybe keep all the pigments in one spot. That's 7 slots.

The only thing I feel should absolutely be kept in a space like the FC chest are voyage materials and seeds. Everything else is pretty easy to obtain if needed. This leaves ample space for the odd items that folks might want to pass to another member.

Oh yes, just picture the dupe bugs if they didn't check to make sure every person in there didn't end up with a copy.

How about a tab in the glam dresser where you just feed in the pigments, so you always have dye to work your glam plates?
