It seems SE has paid some attention and is learning. The ward split is what I expected (50/50) but the houses will be available much earlier than they had in the past for new worlds.

The interesting thing is that new FCs created on the new worlds won't be able to purchase during the first lottery period since it won't be 30 days since the worlds were opened. Some may be eligible in the second lottery period if they were created between July 5th and July 8th (if I'm counting my days right - don't take those dates as gospel).

gotta say its one step forward (not waiting ages to reopen housing) and 2 steps back (not building in an exception to the 30 day rule at least for the first month or even 2 95% of the time will end up to the benefit of shell fc's that have just been created to snag houses to resell them).

so yea, here's hoping square will bake in an exception to the 30 rule for fc's for the new servers before it really opens up.

You are spot on.
This is such a slap in the face for FCs who have been waiting to transfer over who are now missing out on at least one lottery period to shell FCs made purely for snatching up FC houses.
I hope they are reconsidering this. I really do.
There are almost enough FCs present on Alpha, for example, to buy out ALL of the large plots in the first lottery period before anyone transferring over even has a chance to bid on them. And honestly, why wouldn't they? Reselling houses is such a stupidly high return on investment.
It would be quite ironic if their 30-day-rule would empower RMT at the expense of regular users.

Rip all FC who will be created now that transfers is opening. Someone really dropped the ball here.

If they would get their heads out and create a gathering-type situation with comparable rewards for single house owners that they could enjoy, (it really can be fun ), akin to the FCs, all would be well in Mudville, (well at least for the time being) hehe. I'd get rid of my FC that hubby left me when he bailed to play another game in a hot minute if I had a sub-type rewards game to play with in my med house.

Because of no large housing being available on the current worlds for FCs, it means a lot of players were waiting to transfer for a chance at housing by making a new FC. The decision to roll the lottery before allowing the transferring players time to A) Home World Transfer and create an FC and B) wait out the 30 day timer is a huge oversight in my opinion. There are currently no plans to change the 30 day requirement, so RIP all veteran players hoping to start new on the new worlds. Especially since they had to wait so long to even get over there with the HWT system being closed .

It's not the doom you think. After talking through some of this with posters in a General Discussion thread, the situation really isn't that bad. Consider the actual circumstances.

No FCs will be eligible to enter the July 28th lottery period because Aug. 2nd (when the first lottery period will end) will be less than 30 days since the new worlds opened.

FCs created before the 12th (and some on the 12th depending on time of day they were created) will be able to enter in the August 6th lottery period. No one expected housing to be opened this soon considering how long Spriggan, Twintania and the Materia worlds had to wait so there would have been few rushing to start up FCs. Don't forget those FCs would need to have the gil to purchase, and the bulk of that gil would have to be transferred in.

FCs created by the 21st will be eligible to enter in the August 15th lottery period.

(keep in mind that FCs made during the listed periods aren't necessarily eligible to enter the first day of the respective entry periods but will be able to enter by the last)

There are 12 wards plus their subdivisions in each housing district reserved for FCs. That's 360 larges and 840 mediums per world. The odds of a majority let alone all of those disappearing in the August 6th lottery is extremely remote.

Would it better for SE to push back the start of housing until when FCs created this week can participate? They could but it wouldn't necessarily be better. The main demand is still personal houses. SE is going to get players on those worlds a lot faster by making the personal wards available as soon as possible because that's where the real demand is.

The odds of most of those large plots disappearing in the first possible FC lottery cycle is pretty high, actually. Here is the number of FCs present on the new worlds BEFORE Home World Transfer opened:
Sagittarius: 253 FCs
Phantom: 342 FCs
Alpha: 310 FCs
Raiden: 283 FCs

A substantial amount of these FCs were created solely for the purpose of snatching up large and other desirable and ESPECIALLY valuable plots like LB 11/41 for example.
Re-selling plots is a fantastic return on investment, especially for those in RMT. Depending on the demand you can sell large plots in decent enough locations for 500m and more. And since there is no limit of money being traded to the new worlds, there really isn't ANY reason for those investing in the housing market to NOT snatch up as many plots as they can.
You can add a long list of venue-owners to that who have been stuck with medium plots and are finally getting the opportunity to get a large plot for their venue.

I am pretty confident in saying that probably at least half the large plots, including almost all of the desirable ones, will be gone before any FCs transferring over through Home World Transfer will have a chance to bid on them.

I desperately hope that SE is reconsidering either this schedule, or the 30-day rule for new FCs. The goal should be to have legitimate FCs getting a plot of their own instead of shuffling as many plots as possible into the hands of re-sellers and RM-Traders. Keep in mind that a lot of those in the housing market can ALSO participate in the second available lottery period to snatch up another plot on the same account by transferring over the already-won plots to a single account. There are people openly talking about trying to fill their main account with all 8 possible houses on any given new server.

So yes, this is dire.
Either this was simply an oversight or the people making the decision really didn't consider the implications of it.

Nothing prevented legitimate FC's from making alts, forming a FC and bidding on FC houses. FC leadership can be transferred so they could have moved their mains over later.

You're operating off the assumption that every single one of those FCs was made for RMT, was made before July 12th and has 50 million+ gil at its disposal.

Certainly some of them will. I highly doubt it's a majority of them.

I agree that SE should reconsider in light of the home world transfer delay but I still don't feel there's need for doom and gloom in part because the delay happened.
